JOB SUMMARY:


The Utah Jazz are looking to hire a Sideline Reporter/Studio Host who will have several live hits during each Jazz game (home and away) and also serve as studio host for the pre-, half-, and post-game shows that go with each Jazz game, as needed.

The ideal candidate is an experienced storyteller with 5+ years of experience in live sports television and expert-level NBA knowledge. This person should also have experience hosting longer format programming for digital and linear TV channels.

We’re looking for a team player, someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and has strong interpersonal skills. This individual must have an innate ability to build and manage relationships with players, coaches, front office staff, members of the broadcast and public relations teams, and other colleagues. The candidate should expect extensive travel during the NBA season.

Through SEG Media, the Utah Jazz have built one of the most innovative, forward-thinking broadcast content and distribution strategies in the sports industry that includes linear TV, streaming, and outer market efforts. The broadcast and content departments churn out daily content, so the ideal candidate will be bold in suggesting fresh, relevant ideas for content during brainstorms, have a knack for connecting trending topics to the Jazz for newsworthy reports, and help the team stay ahead of overall trends to help elevate short- and long-form pieces for both traditional broadcast and streaming efforts on Jazz+.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as Sideline Reporter for the Utah Jazz for home and away broadcasts (70+ games annually)
  • Serve as Studio Host for select pre-, halftime, and post-game shows during select Jazz games (approximately 10 games annually)
  • Attend all team practices and shootarounds to participate in interviews and gather content
  • Collaborate with Jazz broadcast producers, and members of the basketball operations and PR staff on storylines and content for studio and broadcast features
  • Assist with capturing content while traveling with the team, including but not limited to player sound, pregame live streams, and potential social media content
  • Work with the Jazz+ content team, coming up with new show ideas and concepts to help build the streaming product and keep users engaged
  • Work with the Jazz marketing and social media teams, using team social media accounts to tell impactful stories about the players, organization, team, and fans
  • Serve as a reporter/host for team-produced shoulder programming
  • Host special events for the team or business side of the organization, as assigned by Jazz
  • Interface with the NBA broadcast team whenever requested or required
  • Protect the reputation of the company

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years as on-air talent, ideally with experience both as reporter and host. Sports experience is required, with a preference for experience in basketball
  • Used to working with and dealing with the pressure of live TV broadcasts
  • Demonstrated ability to build solid relationships with PR staff, players, coaches, front office personnel, and other members of a broadcast team including on-air talent
  • Ability to juggle multiple overlapping projects, while still maintaining focus on the game-to-game grind.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will be enterprising and chase their own stories regularly and proactively
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Position will be based in Salt Lake City. Remote work (full or part-time) is not an option).
  • Must be knowledgeable and passionate about the NBA.
  • Ability to work a flexible, event-based schedule that will include nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
