Graphic Design Manager

The Utah Jazz are looking for a mid-level Graphic Design Manager to join their creative team. Working under the direction of the Sr. Brand Director and Art Director, this position will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing brand materials and campaigns for use across all brand touch points, including on-court, in and outside the arena, social channels, and more. This role will collaborate with and occasionally lead other members of the creative team to create both printed and digital assets throughout the season and offseason. Our ideal candidate is technically sound, passionate, hard-working and detail-oriented, and is knowledgeable in the latest trends and practices in graphic design. Each candidate must provide a design portfolio for review.

Primary Duties

  • Help concept and execute designs and guidelines for use across the brand and its platforms
  • Help to develop and work within the brand language, while simultaneously pushing the guidelines when and where appropriate
  • Work closely with the Design Leadership Team (Sr. Brand Director, Art Director, and Design Managers), as well as other designers to develop and implement new ideas
  • Lead and oversee team of interns
  • Understand process, be timely, and be succinct in feedback
  • Identify gaps in current assets and suggest alternatives
  • Manage your projects through to delivery
  • Create digital and print-based graphics for the Utah Jazz and their properties
  • Be a student, be a teacher, be a leader

  • Demonstrate world-class customer service—and if you don’t directly interact with the customer, support those who do

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in graphic design or related field
  • 3-5 years applied design-related experience, or a body of work that reflects an equivalent experience
  • Showcase decision-making, leadership, and planning skills
  • Capable of executing visual direction from the Art Director and Sr. Brand Director, collaborating with other designers, motion designers, editors and videographers
  • Web portfolio demonstrating strong skills in graphic design, branding, layout design, typography, photo editing, and print with attention to detail
  • Speed and proficiency with current Adobe Creative Suite on MacOS
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to work well on quick turnarounds and short deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to account for games on nights and weekends
