Position Description
The Youth Soccer Competitions Intern will gain hands-on experience performing a variety of roles within a fast paced, behind-the-scenes environment, with the chance to have a direct impact on professional soccer in Kansas City. Sporting Kansas City’s collaborative environment full of learning opportunities is designed to help all interns evolve their capabilities, challenge their strengths, and reach their fullest potential.
Sporting Kansas City internships allows students or recent graduations to hold a temporary position within the organization, with an emphasis on educational training and gathering practical experience in their field of specialization for a professional sports organization. The Intern will gain valuable experience working with the Youth Soccer department, collaborating in an environment full of learning opportunities designed to help all interns evolve their capabilities, challenge their strengths, and reach their fullest potential.
This is an unpaid, educational internship opportunity. All SKC interns must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Sports Management or related field or must have recently achieved their bachelor’s degree in a related field and be able to receive academic credit through their college or university degree program.

Essential Functions
- Help organize, promote, and facilitate soccer leagues, tournaments, camps, coaching education, and other community-driven events.
- Assist with communication/marketing of Youth Soccer camps, leagues, tournaments, and other events.
- Assist in scheduling, organizing, and managing various Youth Soccer programming including, but not limited to, Sporting Rec League, Sporting Adult Soccer League, SKC tournaments, etc.
- Hold coaching and/or administrative roles at Sporting Kansas City’s youth-driven events, including, but not limited to, camps and clinics.
- Assist in the fulfillment of the Sporting Recreation Leagues, Youth Soccer tournaments, and Academy Affiliate partnership programs.
- Support any projects, initiatives and other administrative duties related to Sporting Kansas City’s Youth Soccer department.
- Always represent Sporting Kansas City and its related affiliates in a professional manner.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Match Day Responsibilities
- Act as a representative of Sporting Kansas City at all home matches, engaging with guests and working to create Magic Moments for all fans.
- Assist with activation and fulfillment on game days.

Skills and Experience
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree or graduate degree in Sports Marketing/Management, Business, Communications, or other related field required.
- Previous coursework or desire to learn and understand the operations of effective youth development organizations.
- Interest and experience in competitive sports and soccer preferred, including coaching and/or playing experience.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Calendar.
