Team Overview:

The Communications department focuses on telling our hockey team’s story and the narratives surrounding our team and its position in the overall Kraken organization as well as the Seattle community. Through earned and owned media, the Communications department helps develop the Kraken brand and storylines for fans and media alike and assists the Kraken Hockey Operations department with statistical and written projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with organizing, updating and maintaining the Media Relations Department’s media clips, including daily clipping, filing and cross-filing of important articles.
  • Ability to act as a research and editing assistant for the club’s media guide, including compiling statistical reports, verifying statistical data, and coordinating other timely projects and special tasks.
  • Ability to act as a research assistant for statistical information regarding the Kraken, including but not limited to game notes, special projects, and more.
  • Coordinate the set-up of the press room and press box prior to each home game.
  • Update team statistical Excel and Word files on a day-to-day or game-to-game basis.
  • Proof, edit and fact check all written materials including game notes, press releases, bios and more.
  • Assist the Communications Department in various tasks and special assignments as required.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work well within a team environment, yet comfortable completing tasks independently.
  • Self-starter with the ability to be creative within a structured environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
  • Must be a fierce communicator and cross-organizational collaborator.

Compensation & Perks:

  • In accordance with Washington’s Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected salary range for this position is $20-22/hr. Actual base pay will depend on employee’s experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Working Conditions:

  • This role is based on-site in our Seattle office and requires work to be performed in person. However, we do value flexibility as the business will allow, and offer occasional opportunities to work from home.
  • Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
  • Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
