Description:
The Strength and Conditioning Coach will work within the High Performance Team to help establish and maintain the best practices possible for the physical development of our players. Employee shall devote their time, efforts and loyalties as Strength Coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins and work closely with the President and General Manager, Director of High Performance and Hockey Operations staff. The Strength and Conditioning Coach will report to the Director of High Performance. Subject to the minimum qualifications listed below, we welcome applicants of all levels of experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Strength & Conditioning Coach’s duties include each of the following:

  • Employee will help and assist in developing strength and conditioning philosophies that reflect the best standards of practice and systems which create an environment where all athletes can optimize their development and health.
  • Employee shall help the Club’s strength coaches and members of the High Performance team maintain the standards of the department by helping to manage in-season and off-season player programs and to ensure players maintain their overall well-being.
  • Employee may be asked to help and assist in other capacities in regard to the collection of sports science data, or assist the Club’s dietitian with delivering some of the hydration of food delivery systems
  • Employee shall assist the Club’s team members in overall maintenance of the weight room and performance spaces at the practice facility as well as the arena to uphold high standards of cleanliness and work flow.
  • Employee shall participate in the Club’s performance staff meetings and will help develop a collaborative team atmosphere amongst all staff members to better serve the players.


Qualifications & Certifications Required:

The Strength & Conditioning Coach should have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Hold current certification (NSCA-CSCS), credentialing and/or licensure by the appropriate governing body, in good standing, in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ local jurisdiction.
  • Provide services only within the defined scope of practice of such certification, credentialing and/or licensure.
  • Maintain the educational and licensure requirements to practice Athletic Training in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
