The Pittsburgh Penguins are excited to offer a Hockey Research & Development Fellowship. This fellowship will provide an opportunity to engage with the Penguins’ Hockey Operations department and help shape decision-making processes through the analysis and interpretation of hockey data. The program will run between 6-12 months, depending on the applicant's availability and qualifications, with a minimum of 6 months requested.
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about hockey and have a strong desire to contribute to the team through mathematics, data analysis, and computation. Our next fellow will be an intellectual contributor capable of working independently and collaboratively, posing intriguing research questions, analyzing data to answer these questions, and communicating findings effectively. You will have a chance to apply your research outcomes to enhance the Penguins’ performance on and off the ice.
If you're someone who is driven, enjoys being a team player, has an innovative mindset, and wants to explore new methods to improve a professional hockey organization alongside a growing team, this is the opportunity for you!

The Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey Operations R&D Fellowship Program is designed to be flexible based on applicants’ schedules, but we ask for a 6-month commitment, at minimum. Fellows are paid hourly (based on a 40-hour week) and are eligible to earn overtime. The organization’s preference is the fellow be based in Pittsburgh, PA for the full term, but will consider remote setups on a case-by-case basis. At the Pittsburgh Penguins, we go beyond embracing diversity. We’re committed to living by our values, strengthening our community, and creating a workplace where people genuinely feel like they belong.
Too often, job seekers don’t apply to positions because they don’t meet every qualification. If you love this role and are great at what you do, we encourage you to apply. Your unique skills and experiences might just be what we’ve been looking for.
