Job Summary:
The primary role of this position is to manage all aspects of ballpark operations at BayCare Ballpark, Spring Training home of the Philadelphia Phillies and Low A Clearwater Threshers. The Manager, Ballpark Operations reports directly to the General Manager, BayCare Ballpark and assists in the management of facility operations, event operations and Ballpark operations. A qualified candidate will have the keen ability to provide excellent leadership, prioritize and execute tasks involved in the job description and exercise problem-solving aptitude in a dynamic environment.

This position is located in Clearwater, Florida.

Job Description:
This information is intended to describe the position's key responsibilities. The following functions do not identify all duties performed by the incumbent. Other duties and responsibilities will be performed as assigned.

In Season Responsibilities -

  • Manage assigned groups of employees including full-time non-exempt, seasonal nonexempt, and game day PT staff.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of the MLB PDL facility standards guidelines and applies these standards throughout our facility to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure staffing requirements are met and proper work assignments are maintained.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of assigned departments.
  • Recommends annual budget and expenditures, authorizing payments, monitoring expenditures, recommending adjustments, and evaluating program performance.
  • Responsible for supervision of general facility maintenance including inspections, monitoring, security, and preventative processes throughout the facility.
  • Manage and maintain parking applications (ParkHub), parking staff as well as parking lots associated with BayCare Ballpark.
  • Run daily parking reports for all games and special events.
  • Perform regular stadium inspections, identify projects that need to be completed, and determine if projects can be completed or need to be outsourced.
  • Lead improvement projects to increase safety, efficiencies and capacity, and ensure projects are scheduled to minimize conflicts with event schedule.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all operating systems.
  • Work closely with Facility Services department to ensure a clean and safe facility.
  • Work closely with Facility Maintenance department to ensure a safe facility.
  • Oversee installation of signage.
  • Order and maintain all supplies and equipment.
  • Compliance with all OSHA regulations and other government safety regulations.
  • Identify and provide costs of facility capital needs for discussion with the supervisor.
  • Work with sales staff to ensure all inventory sold in the facility is updated and in compliance with MLB standards.
  • Manage projects as assigned.

Off Season Responsibilities -

  • Coordinate seasonal events in the facility.
  • Assist with capital projects and improvements
  • Develop policies and procedures for assigned departments.
  • Coordinate off-season facility projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments to build and strengthen relationships with corporate partners, the media, the fans and the community.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Facility Management or related field preferred; Relevant experience instead of degree will be considered.
• At least two years of prior management and leadership experience preferred
• Experience negotiating contracts preferred
• Experience in managing budgets preferred
• Knowledge of ballpark operations preferred
• Ability to lead and collaborate in a team environment
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to solve problems quickly
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive for organizational business
• Must be proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally
• High level of organization and attention to detail
• Must be able to work flexible hours to include holidays, weekends, and evenings as needed
