JOB SUMMARY

Comcast-Spectacor is seeking a full-time role of Manager, Media Relations within Hockey Communications for the Philadelphia Flyers.

The individual will be responsible for producing team-related information, content and announcements to the media while collaborating with players, coaches, executives and additional team-related personnel.

The position will report to the VP, Hockey Communications and be based full time at The Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, NJ and will also be required to work at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA for game days and as needed for meetings and events.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for research, production and collaboration with staff on hockey-related information. Including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Writing press releases and media advisories.
  • Day-to-day information releases to staff & media, including official game notes for each game.
  • Talking points, stats and background notes on a regular basis.
  • Lead person for the research, production and layout of all team guides (Media Guide, Playoff Guide, Draft & Training Camp guides, etc.).
  • Work with the Team Publicist, as well as other business departments, to consistently generate ideas for on and off ice events and opportunities that involve players, coaches & management to maximize communication.
  • Work with the Communications staff on creating strategies and producing plans for hockey-related events, media opportunities and summary reports.
  • Assist the VP, Hockey Communications with player/coach/management requests from the media and staff on a regular, day-to-day basis for practices, games and special events.
  • Travel for road games, as well as team and/or league events, on an as needed basis.
  • Responsible for overseeing the Coordinator, Hockey Communication and game night interns
  • Lead for conducting virtual Press Conferences as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in communications, tv & media, sports management or another related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in communications, working for/with a professional sports team and/or league or in sports media.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to produce releases, media reports, talking points and communication plans under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule which includes all game nights, events and weekends as required.
  • Must be willing to travel for road games, extended road trips and team/league events as assigned.
  • Must be detailed-oriented, collaborate with various staff and department with the ability to handle multiple assignments and projects under pressure.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, generate and execute ideas based on supervision.
  • Proficient computer skills in programs, including but not limited to, Microsoft applications.
