About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Safeguarding and Wellbeing professional to implement and manage an effective safeguarding and wellbeing support service for the players and staff of our newly promoted Newcastle United Women’s team. This role will be critical in ensuring that the Team, and any associated partners, are governed and monitored by effective safeguarding and wellbeing arrangements for the activities that they deliver.

Leading and promoting safeguarding and wellbeing awareness effectively across Newcastle United Women (NUW) this role will ensure that support staff are enabled to champion best practice by understanding the important role safety and support plays in a high-performance environment. This will be achieved by managing the implementation of Club-wide safeguarding and wellbeing strategies at NUW in accordance with identified key performance indicators.

The role will also involve managing regular reviews of NUW operations, ensuring the individual, holistic wellbeing needs of players and staff are being met and compiling evidence portfolios to ensure the Club performs well in audits and complies with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, industry rules/regulations and Club policies and procedures.

Your impact

You will have significant expert knowledge of safeguarding legislation and safe working practices, including what constitutes as poor practice or abusive behaviour and what responsibilities sports organisations and their associated stakeholders hold in respect to promoting safe environment. This will be gained from a professional background in working with children, adults at risk or provision of personal support services.

Also possessing expert knowledge of holistic wellbeing models and strategies, you will be able demonstrate experience of implementing customised wellbeing work, assessing and measuring individual wellbeing and delivering education and training. You will also be familiar with the local and national agencies that provide safeguarding and wellbeing support for children and adults and thresholds for referral to such agencies.

About the team

Joining our passionate Safeguarding and Wellbeing Team you will report into our Head of Safeguarding and Welfare and will support our newly promoted Newcastle United Women’s Team. This is a really exciting time in the team’s history having only turned professional over a year ago and having been promoted to the Women’s Super League this season.
