Our Game Plan
The New York Islanders Hockey Club is one of the most iconic franchises in professional sports, with a deeply passionate and loyal fan base that is second to none. Built on a Dynasty in the 1980’s with four straight Stanley Cup Championships, our history is what will propel us into the future, confidently assuming a position of strength in the sports, entertainment, and cultural landscape.
Our home at UBS Arena at Belmont Park, which was built for hockey and made for music, cements our brand into the very foundation of New York. We have always carved our own path, and to our fans the Islanders are a way for people to be a part of something greater than themselves. To be a part of living history, with the glory of the past fueling the drive for our fifth Stanley Cup.
How to Make the Team
The New York Islanders are seeking a talented, highly motivated creative with a passion for photography. The Photography Seasonal Intern will assist the Manager of Still Media with executing the photography needs for various business and hockey operations during the 2024-25 season.
All NYI interns must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree or have recently achieved their Bachelor’s Degree.

Show Us You Can
- Reports to Manager of Still Media, Creative Director, and Project Manager
- Assist in photography administration for the daily operations of the New York Islanders
- Photograph marketing, community, ticketing, retail, sponsorship, and other events as assigned
- Provide metadata in support of the digital asset management database (Photo Shelter)
- Handle image sourcing for internal & external photo requests
- Assist in editing/curation of photography assets to be used across New York Islanders’ digital platforms
- Photograph marketing and game presentation activations during home games (In game/action photography from an elevated position where needed)
- Opportunity to shadow/shoot concerts/events at UBS Arena where applicable
- Coordinate delivery of products for external and internal partners
- Will be required periodically to lift and carry equipment (25 lbs)
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of hockey and business initiatives
- Ability to work nights and weekends
Your Training & Talent
- Preferred - 1-3 years of sports photography experience (collegiate or professional level)
- Adobe Creative Cloud experience (Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere, Audition)
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Proficiency in Photomechanic, Adobe Bridge, or other metadata program is preferred
- Knowledge of on-camera flash is a must, off camera flash is a plus
- Experience with Sony Mirrorless camera systems is a plus but not required
- Organizing work effectively, conceptualizing, and prioritizing objectives, and exercising independent judgment based on understanding organizational policies and activities

Where You’ll Go
- Seasonal internship that coincides with the 2024-2025 Islanders season, 30 hours a week
