The Purpose:
Management of departmental P&Ls for Men’s and Women’s football working closely with key stakeholders including month-end process, weekly reforecasting, annual budget and long-term financial planning

The Role:

  • Working closely with football stakeholders on short- and long-term projects and planning, including capital expenditure (player and non-player)
  • Key financial support for academy and womens football, working closely with strategy, legal, HR and football administration
  • Executing the football strategy by working closely with football, legal and football administration on planning and execution of transactions including preparation of finance documentation across academy and womens football
  • Responsibility for women’s football finance submissions including UEFA licensing, salary cap submissions and WSL reporting
  • Support for men’s football finance submissions including EPPP grant and UEFA / Premier League financial sustainability
  • Research & Development – understanding key R&D investment areas in football on a short- and long-term basis in the football operations
  • Any other duties or projects as directed by the Director of Group Planning and Football Finance


The Person:

  • Higher education and qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA or CIMA with PQE
  • Sports club experience preferred
  • Strong excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
  • High level of commercial awareness
  • Effective and confident communicator – both written and verbal – with the ability to communicate complex information in a straightforward way to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders quickly
  • Ability to prioritise and focus on key risk areas
  • Strong work ethic with a positive energetic can-do attitude – proactive and solution orientated
  • Calm and measured when working under pressure
  • Collaborative – effective at leading projects and working cross functionally
  • Flexible and adaptable – has the ability to work in a fast-moving environment
