The Purpose:

We’re looking for a dynamic Clinical Specialist MSK Lead MRI Radiographer to join our team at the Club. The successful candidate will, when necessary, providing leadership, manage workload alongside a colleague and give specialist MRI clinical advice to colleagues.

This role will play a crucial role in aiding the diagnosis and management of injuries sustained by MUFC Men’s Women and Academy football players. Expertise in delivering high quality imaging studies will directly contribute to the well-being and performance of athletes, helping them recover swiftly and return to the field stronger than ever.

The Role:

  • Perform all MRI scans and CT scans as requested by the MUFC medical staff to the highest level of radiography skill and standards.
  • Work closely with the clubs consultant radiologists in performing examinations to ensure the optimal scans are achieved.
  • Provide timely and accurate and high-quality radiology reports, ensuring clear communication of findings to the medical team and athletes.
  • Stay current with advancements in radiology technology and techniques, incorporating new methodologies into clinical practice when appropriate and relevant.
  • Mange and lead in all elements of image transfer between PACS, hospitals and identified specialists.
  • Undertake al relevant administration, fault reporting and stock control specifically with Canon our equipment provider.
  • Participate and lead where appropriate in audits for the radiology department at the club as well as for Canon.
  • Be actively involved in induction of new clinical staff and develop on call rotas for clinical staff where required.
  • Ensure exceptional communication is maintained with the team to deliver a smooth-running service.
  • Take ownership of governance activities i.e. audits, personal development, and team meetings with the support of your colleagues.

The Person:

  • Medical degree from an accredited institution alongside Board certification or eligibility in Radiography.
  • Fellowship training or equivalent experience in musculoskeletal radiology, with a focus on sports medicine.
  • Strong proficiency in interpreting musculoskeletal imaging studies, including X-rays, MRI scans, CT scans, and ultrasound.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Dedication to providing compassionate care to athletes and supporting them throughout their recovery journey.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of advancements in the field of radiography and sports medicine.
  • Significant experience in elite Sports medical service.
  • Ability to multitask and work to strict deadlines.
  • High levels of accuracy, standards and be quality driven.
  • Methodical approach with planning, excellent organisational skills, and an ability to always work with total discretion.
  • Strong work ethic with a positive energetic can-do attitude – proactive and solution orientated.
  • Calm and measured when working under pressure.
  • Flexible and adaptable – can work in a fast-moving environment.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy.
