The Purpose:

The Food Safety Manager will work closely with a team of catering professionals to ensure the seamless delivery of services during conferences, events, and match days and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of health, safety, and environmental policies.


The Role:

  • Collaborate with the Head of Regulatory Services to ensure compliance across all club departments, particularly focusing on food safety regulations, catering operations, hospitality, retail, and event management.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes and communicate them effectively to relevant personnel.
  • Provide ongoing support to the catering team regarding food safety protocols, including maintaining and updating the company's HACCP system.
  • Conduct surveys, audits, and inspections to ensure adherence to food safety guidelines and legislation.
  • Develop and implement new policies and procedures as needed, overseeing their execution and monitoring their effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with allergen specialists to ensure menu compliance and conduct kitchen inspections before matches and events.
  • Lead by example in maintaining personal hygiene standards in food service areas.
  • Conduct regular audits of kitchen facilities, bars, retail outlets, and other food service areas.
  • Organize food safety training for staff and facilitate audits of suppliers, concessions, and hotel services.
  • Manage pest control measures with a focus on food safety.
  • Compile monthly reports on food safety compliance and assist with environmental health and safety matters.
  • Support initiatives to maintain ISO certifications related to health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Advocate for the importance of food safety in achieving quality and customer service goals.
  • Participate in HACCP committee meetings and collaborate with catering staff on action items.
  • Assist colleagues in maintaining standards and addressing incidents during match days.
  • Undertake additional duties as necessary to support the effective operation of the food safety role in a dynamic environment


The Person:

  • Candidates are to hold a relevant degree or diploma in Food Inspection /Environmental Health / equivalent or be studying for such qualification.
  • Food Safety Level 4 certification and a HAACCP Level 3 qualification are necessary prerequisites.
  • Good knowledge and experience of the practical implementation of food safety & H&S processes and compliance at a fast-paced operational level, ensuring that food safety is managed as part of the ongoing corporate risk programmes rather than in isolation.
  • Demonstrate high standards of forward planning, organisational skills, influencing skills and risk management.
  • Ability to understand and interpret a wide range of analytical and microbiological results and make timely and appropriate judgements based on the information.
  • Ability to manage cross functional “Problem Solving” teams.
  • Ideally a knowledge of regulatory authorities, processes & powers (e.g. Environmental Health & Trading Standards).
  • Competent with IT systems to complete audits, develop systems and generate reports.
  • Strong ability to adapt communication style between colleagues at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and highly organised with a high attention to detail.
