Operations:

Delivering all off-pitch operations for the club covering our people, technology, facilities and infrastructure development at both Old Trafford and Carrington.
Key departments within Operations include matchday delivery, hospitality & event sales, facilities, ticketing & membership, people, sustainability, safety & security, digital transformation & IT and our club charity, Manchester United Foundation.


The Purpose:

As a Building Systems Assistant, you'll be the guardian of our HVAC systems, ensuring the heartbeat of Old Trafford remains strong and efficient. Reporting directly to the Building Systems Manager and under the overall guidance of the Stadium Facilities Manager, you'll play a crucial role in executing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on all HVAC equipment.


The Role:

  • Perform PPM on air handling units (AHU’s) and air conditioning units (AC units).

  • Replace or clean filters, ensuring optimal performance.

  • Check fan belts for correct operation and replace as needed.

  • Clean HVAC heating and cooling coils for peak efficiency.

  • Maintain stock levels of essential supplies (e.g., filters, fan belts).

  • Work alongside mechanical and electrical engineers for day-to-day maintenance and small projects.

  • Assess HVAC equipment for maintenance, focusing on energy savings.

  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and Health & Safety standards.

  • Complete records and work orders for all tasks.


The work associated with this position is diverse and covers many disciplines, such as plumbing, air conditioning, Building Management Systems and electrical work. On-site internal training will be given, concentrating mainly on the safety aspects associated with each task, but opportunities for further development and external training will also be offered for personnel who show promise and develop their own potential.


The Person:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of health & safety site procedures

  • General understanding of mechanical HVAC plant operations.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to maintain professionalism in various settings across the stadium.

  • Familiarity and appreciation of basic software packages.

  • Self-motivated, exhibiting both strong team collaboration and the ability to work independently.

  • Possesses common sense, a crucial attribute for success in this role.
