Purpose
Established in 1986, City in the Community is the registered charity of Manchester City and exists to empower healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.
The purpose of this role is to support the delivery and development of CITC’s Early Years programmes, with a focus on City Play in schools and nurseries across Greater Manchester. The Early Years Lead Coach will assist in planning, monitoring, and evaluating these programmes and building partnerships for sustainability and growth.
Accountabilities
- To Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of CITC’s Early Years programmes (City Play and City Play Together), ensuring all activities meet high standards for inclusivity, engagement, and safeguarding.
- To Collaborate with Early Years Officers and local networks to promote City Play, expanding its reach and impact across Manchester.
- To support programme Officers in ccollecting feedback and assess programme quality, fostering strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including the Premier League Charitable Fund, schools, and nurseries.
- To regularly review individual performance within the team to assess, identify and provide training and CPD opportunities which continuously improves the standard of delivery on the programmes.
- To lead on early years events for partner settings, building and strengthening relationships across Greater Manchester.
- Ensuring that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.
- Ensuring that all CITC and CFG policies and procedures are adhered to, in order to maintain a high-quality provision.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Experience of coaching/working with children aged 2-5 and working with/delivering to families with early years children
- Experience of working in and liaising with schools and community organisations/venues including Children’s Centres
- Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS), specifically around physical development
- Experience of supporting families to understand the key benefits of physical activity in the early years
- Experience of leading/coordinating community programmes and achieving associated KPI’s and outcomes
- Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects and strategy
- Minimum Level 1 Coaching Certificate in any sport and/or relevant early years specific qualifications
- Competent across Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Creative and passionate about continuous improvement
- Resilient and adaptable to change
- Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities
- Full, clean driving licence and business insurance to cover driving own car to different settings across the day
Desirable
- Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club
- Professional and adaptable presentation skills to a variety of audiences
- Experience of delivering technical training and CPD for team members and other professionals
- In-depth understanding of community-based programmes and their purpose and impact
- Experience of supporting other coaches to develop
