Purpose

Established in 1986, City in the Community is the registered charity of Manchester City and exists to empower healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.

The purpose of this role is to work with 11–16-year-olds by contributing to a City Inspires programme. The primary responsibility is to provide leadership and support within the programme, focusing on secondary school learners and the delivery coaches who execute the curriculum. Your role encompasses guiding and mentoring both students and coaches, ensuring the effective delivery of the program's objectives

The requirements of the role include delivering and further developing the City Inspires programme which focuses on increasing confidence, resilience, qualifications, and behaviour in a range of young people and abilities

Accountabilities

  1. Delivering the City Inspires programme to a range of schools across Greater Manchester. A focus will be placed on increasing confidence, developing behaviour, and increasing awareness of future pathways to inspire, motivate and guide participants. Supporting all elements of holiday provision including breakfast and lunch distribution, and educational workshops while being inclusive of all participants and maintaining high standards of delivery.
  2. Working in partnership with the Education Officer - Secondary to support planning and delivery of high- quality engagement programmes.Working closely with Lead Coach, Project Officer and Safeguarding Officer to ensure participant needs are being met when at sessions and that interventions are effective.
  3. Being accountable for progress and reporting on set KPIs and outcomes associated with each project to develop, maintain, and grow a strong working relationship with partner schools.
  4. Creating, maintain and develop relationships with internal partners from CITC and the wider City Football Group (CFG), local authorities and governing bodies to develop CITC’s reputation and reach, promoting all CITC programmes across Greater Manchester.
  5. Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with all learners, to closely monitor attendance, punctuality, and behaviour, giving them the best opportunity for progression and attainment. Ensuring consistent focus on increasing confidence, resilience, qualifications, and behaviour in a range of young people and abilities in order to raise participant aspirations across all programmes.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • In-depth understanding of community engagement programmes
  • Experience of planning and delivering high quality coaching/education sessions which are challenging and inclusive to the needs of the group.
  • Solid experience of working in and liaising with schools, colleges and educational stakeholders
  • Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club
  • Experience and understanding of community programmes and pathways
  • Minimum Level 2 Coaching Certificate in any sport
  • Competent across Microsoft office
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Creative and passionate about continuous improvement
  • Resilient and adaptable to change
  • Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities
  • Ability to simultaneously co-ordinate a variety of different projects
  • Full driving licence

Desirable

  • Coaching qualifications in other relevant sports
  • Understanding of City in the Community
  • Foundation and its projects
  • Budget management and reporting
  • Mentoring qualification or proven experience of mentoring students
  • Experience of building relationships with external organisations and maintaining internal partnerships.
  • Excellent communication and motivation skills
  • Youth work experience
  • Experience of strong behaviour management.
