Title: Assistant Equipment Manager

Department: Equipment (Basketball Operations)

Reports to: Head Equipment Manager

Manages: Team Attendants (Indirect)

Position Summary: The Assistant Equipment Manager is responsible for supporting the equipment needs of the Los Angeles Lakers at the practice facility, home arena, and on the road.This position requires a high level of organization and a service attitude.

Key metrics used to evaluate performance:

  • Organization of inventory and service to players
  • Keep all items stocked, organized, and accessible
  • Feedback from head equipment manager, team attendants, training staff, and management


Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities):

  • Provide support to the head equipment manager in providing equipment for the Los Angeles Lakers players, coaches, and relevant support staff to include organizing inventory and supplies, outfitting players and staff, and washing game and practice gear
  • Set up equipment needs for games and practices
  • Assist with overseeing and managing team attendants, including planning and coordinating work schedules, assigning duties, and providing relevant training
  • Assist with overseeing the transportation of equipment, such as unloading the equipment truck and managing luggage while on the road
  • Ensure the availability of equipment for visiting teams and officials
  • Provide equipment for team business needs, such as sponsorship film shoots and season ticketholder events


Education (Required/ Preferred): Bachelor’s degree (required)

Previous experience: A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working as an assistant equipment manager for a professional or collegiate sports team or equivalent experience

Technology Capabilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint & Windows)
  • Familiarity with inventory management system (i.e. Front Rush)


Travel: Must be available to travel to away games, including California Classic, Summer League, preseason, regular season, postseason.

The pay range for this role is $65,000 to $75,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications
