Security Manager- GP and Mass Events

F1 is looking for an experienced operative in protective and event security, capable of working remotely, unsupervised with great resilience and resourcefulness. Independent but capable of working effectively with new teams and remote teams, building relationships that are immediately productive. Work with the highest levels of integrity and be driven by the values of F1 and core principles of Security.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Security, GP and Mass Events, the duties will include:

  • Responsibility for the delivery of safe events through the oversight, checking and other activity during access and race periods, deployed at the event.

  • To work closely with colleagues across the organisation and externally to ensure integration and delivery of security mitigation into the P – Pre event process, E - event. P -post event and ensure safe event delivery

  • To undertake a variety of checking activity to ensure the Holistic Security plan for the event is fit for purpose.

  • Be capable of identifying and documenting, evidencing and escalating when plans fall short of the high standards detailed in the Security and Safety Framework.

  • Ensure contractual obligations of promotors and company policies/procedures are maintained.

  • As part of the PEP process, be highly effective in engaging with promotors and other internal and external stakeholders, year around, to prepare, deliver and then identify areas for improvement post race, to ensure the quality of security delivery is continuously improving.

  • Perform assessments and analysis of promotor and other stakeholder plans.

  • To work very closely as a team with Security “People and Assets” to introduce and manage / integrate a wide range of supporting activity and plans into Event plans.

  • Brief senior leaders within F1 of activity, issues and concerns whilst employed at events. Be a strong and capable problem solver, always ensuring there are options to recommend, that will progress or resolve the issue.

  • Be highly motivated whilst deployed at access period at events, to build knowledge and oversight of all protective security measures and plans deployed / planned at the event, and be capable of checking those plans against the experience on the ground. Be capable of working with all stakeholders to resolve any issues found to be short of the framework standard.

  • Have a detailed understanding of the S&S Framework, and be capable of advising and advocating any issues to stakeholders, especially when provisions on the ground or in plans fall short of the standard.

  • Responsibility for inputting and managing the PEP on systems to ensure there is an accountable record of all activity and concerns at all times

  • Work closely with the Security People and Asset team at all times, particularly in times of crisis management whilst deployed at events

About You

  • Degree level qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience in the planning and delivery of security.

  • A proven track record in law enforcement/military or other area with appropriate skills. Be experienced in all elements of protective security and risk management / problem solving. Have proven experience in Major Domestic and International Events in both planning and operational delivery.

  • Extensive experience in identifying and mitigating risk through effective planning and checking activity in advance of major events. Be experienced in post event debrief, learning and development of plans.

  • Prior experience with security and large-scale event planning, threat assessment/risk analysis and thorough grasp of crowd control/ management strategies.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Be a credible and sophisticated communicator at all levels, to enable the building of strong relationships in short periods of time.

  • Proven background and experience with emergency planning, business continuity and crisis management at events.

  • Aptitude to successfully navigate between business and security environments and needs, with an understanding of the local operating environment and how best to implement the highest of industry standards.

  • Working knowledge of a wide range of security provision that is associated with a mass event.

  • Highly developed and disciplined work ethic, high motivation, work independently within clearly defined parameters.

  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Able to act with tact, empathy, humility and diplomacy at all times.

  • Be transparent and accountable for actions at all time, highly values driven and honest.
