The Manager, Transport Project Management will oversee and be accountable for the comprehensive planning, execution, and delivery of various transport-related projects within the FIFA World Cup 2026 framework. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Transport Project Management, this role will lead the coordination of multiple sub-projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and stakeholder satisfaction. The Manager will play a pivotal role in managing cross-functional teams, aligning project goals with FIFA’s transport strategy, and delivering world-class transport solutions.
This role requires extensive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, public authorities, and volunteer groups. The Manager is responsible for ensuring the seamless execution of all transportation-related elements during the event, from workforce accreditation to operational planning for the Transport Operations Center, and for ensuring robust documentation for knowledge transfer and legacy planning.
This position will oversee one direct report - Supervisor, Transport Project Management & Administration.
THE POSITION
The main responsibilities and oversights of the Manager, Transport Project Management for the FIFA World Cup 26™ include:
Project Leadership & Execution:
- Assist the Senior Manager in leading the end-to-end project management for transport-related initiatives, from initial planning through final execution.
- Develop and manage transportation plans, resource allocations, budgets, timelines, and reporting systems to ensure project goals are achieved.
- Oversee the implementation of transport plans, ensuring they meet FIFA’s operational standards and event requirements.
Stakeholder Management:
- Support the Senior Manager in managing relationships with internal (cross-functional teams, senior leadership) and external (suppliers, public authorities, volunteers) stakeholders.
- Act as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, fostering collaboration to ensure successful execution of transport solutions.
- Facilitate cross-departmental coordination to streamline communication and issue resolution.
Budget & Resource Management:
- Prepare and manage detailed budgets, including forecasting, monitoring expenditures, and aligning financial objectives with organizational goals.
- Analyze and anticipate future project costs and provide strategic recommendations to the Senior Manager for optimizing resources and minimizing cost overruns.
Policy Development & Compliance:
- Assist in the development and implementation of transport policies, ensuring compliance with FIFA guidelines and relevant legislation in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
- Ensure all transport operations adhere to safety, legal, and environmental standards, mitigating risks and maintaining compliance throughout the event lifecycle.
Operations & Workforce Management:
- Lead the workforce accreditation process, including supplier management, to ensure qualified personnel are deployed effectively.
- Oversee the planning and management of the Transport Operations Center, ensuring operational efficiency during the event.
- Coordinate the engagement and deployment of volunteers, ensuring they are aligned with overall transport strategies and operational goals.
Risk Management & Problem-Solving:
- Proactively identify potential risks in transport operations, developing contingency plans to address potential issues.
- Resolve operational challenges swiftly, minimizing disruption to transport services and ensuring continuity during event periods.
SharePoint, Transfer of Knowledge, and Legacy Documentation:
- Manage the TPT and SharePoint pages, ensuring they are consistently updated and organized with relevant documentation and resources.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and knowledge transfer documents to capture best practices and lessons learned for future events.
- Maintain a well-organized library of operating plans and key documentation for easy access and future reference, ensuring legacy planning is supported.
Team Leadership & Training:
- Lead, mentor, and develop transport project staff to ensure they are well-prepared to meet project demands.
- Organize and oversee staff training sessions, ensuring all team members are aligned with FIFA standards and operational goals.
- Assist in overseeing the Supervisor, Administration, ensuring efficient day-to-day management of office operations, including office supplies, staff schedules, meeting organization, and compliance with office procedures. Ensure the department’s administrative functions, including record keeping, correspondence, and overall efficiency, are consistently maintained.
Procurement & Contract Management Support:
- Work closely with the Transport Procurement and Contracts Manager on procurement and contract management for transport-related services, including arrivals/departures, ensuring that documentation and procurement processes are followed according to FIFA’s standards.
- Provide support for transport-related contract negotiations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and service quality.
YOUR PROFILE
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Sports Administration, Project Management or Event Management, Major Sport events or a combination of education and experience relating to position.
• Posses a valid driving license and passport.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in project management, transport planning, or event planning, ideally within football, sports, or major international events.
• Proven ability to manage at least one large-scale, high-profile project or event, such as the FIFA World Cup, Olympic Games, or regional football tournaments.
• Strong leadership experience managing cross-functional teams, with the ability to drive complex projects to completion within budget and timelines
• Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of transport logistics, event transportation systems, and fleet management.
- Proficiency in leveraging transport technologies such as GPS tracking, route optimization tools, and traffic management systems to ensure smooth operations during large-scale events.
