The Director, Partnership Solutions is part of our vision to lead and develop the Detroit Pistons’ strategic and creative approach to partnership marketing solutions. You will collaborate with all other departments within the organization to serve as an in-house agency for the Corporate Partnerships team.

You will direct the development and implementation of short and long-term strategy to enhance Partnership sales, engagement, growth, and retention through creative and strategic proposal development. Priorities include achieving targeted new sales goals, renewal goals and total revenue goals with a focus on creating outstanding partnership marketing campaigns.

What you’ll be doing
You and your team of two (Partnership Solutions Design Coordinator & Partnership Solutions Inventory Coordinator) will be responsible for the following:

  • Oversee the strategic development and implementation of presentation creative including partnership proposals.
  • Lead brainstorming and creative sessions – support script writing and storyboard creation for all partnership proposals.
  • Make creative and strategic recommendations using partnership assets (in-arena signs, media, social & digital) that deliver on partner brand objectives.
  • Lead the strategic development and ongoing maintenance of all Corporate Partnership sales materials to include presentations, one-sheets, and case studies.
  • Research prospective partners including brand architecture, marketing initiatives, industry standard processes and apply key findings to new partnership proposals.
  • Monitor and manage partnership asset inventory.
  • Work closely with Pistons Business Intelligence team to translate data into consumable insights to be used in prospecting materials, sales presentations, and partner proposals.
  • Work with key members of marketing team to ensure the Pistons brand is represented properly with approved imagery and messaging.
  • Serve as liaison within the organization, including Marketing & Community Relations, to develop integrated marketing concepts and assets, as well as refining sellable programming.
  • Work closely with the VP/Directors of Engagement and Sales to create incremental revenue opportunities for current partners and support Partnership Engagement team in their incremental sales efforts (upsells).
  • Represent our brand in presentations with clients and agencies as a subject matter expert, as requested.
  • Lead special projects, as needed.

What we’re looking for

  • 4+ years of experience in Corporate Partnerships sales/activation/strategy
  • Strong management and leadership skills with desire to develop and manage junior talent/staff
  • Ability to manage long-term projects as well as quick turnaround assignments
  • Expert proficiency with MS Office, especially PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop; experience with Illustrator or InDesign a plus
  • Preferred experience with KORE Salesforce CRM platform and Canva creative platform
  • Does not accept/use the phrases, “That’s the way it’s been” or “There’s not a solution for that.”
  • Can cultivate positive relationships and interpersonal skills with multiple departments
  • Can unearth & understand a brand’s goals and objectives through various research techniques
  • Exhibits creativity, innovation and power of persuasion
  • Is an active reader of both print and online sports business publications
  • In addition to regular business hours, this person will be expected to be available to work non-traditional work hours, weekends and evenings to accommodate Pistons home schedule and non-basketball events
