Director of Community Engagement

The Cincinnati Bengals are a franchise in the AFC North Division of the National Football League. The Bengals were founded in 1968 by Paul Brown, a legendary figure in the history of American football, and have made 3 Super Bowl appearances in their history.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Cincinnati Bengals are committed to positively impacting the youth of our community through the game of football and health & wellness initiatives through meaningful outreach and partnerships. The Bengals are seeking a highly motivated professional to lead the Club’s outreach, engagement, and philanthropy throughout Bengals Nation to make a positive impact in the community and cultivate the next generation of Bengals fans.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Bengals Director of Strategy & Engagement to development long-term and short-term objectives that will guide the strategy of the Bengals community engagement efforts.
  • Provide updates on all community engagement initiatives and ensure successful implementation of all Club programs across Bengals Nation.
  • Serve as the Bengals liaison in the community by developing relationships with key stakeholders including non-profits, school districts and officials from surrounding municipalities.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive, effective measurement system to track and evaluate the impact of Bengals community programs to report to key stakeholders including sponsors, key community leaders, etc.
  • Maintain understanding of and execution of League driven community relations programming as needed to meet the Bengals’ community engagement objectives.
  • Drive cross functional collaboration to identify and evaluate revenue and brand storytelling opportunities that will return value to the Club. This includes having a basic understanding of the community objectives of some of the Club’s current and prospective sponsors.
  • Conduct oversight of charitable donation program.
  • Serve as resource to players and their reps in implementing their own community engagement efforts.
  • Work effectively with the content and communications teams to help promote community engagement programming through Bengals owned and operated platforms.
  • Work closely with and communicate well across all areas of the organization (i.e. sponsorship, content, football operations, media, digital, etc.) including utilizing various software and tools as required by various departments.
  • Other related duties as may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required or such experience that would supersede degree requirement.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of community relations experience – sports industry preferred.
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated capability to think strategically, meet deadlines and balance concurrent projects.
  • Strong, proven understanding of the practices and principles related to the objectives of community relations.
  • Proven track record of successful event planning and execution.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, non-profit partners, and co-workers.
  • Capability to drive multi-passenger vehicle to various community events.
  • Ability to execute moderate lifting of tables, chairs, tents and other miscellaneous equipment necessary for community engagement events.
  • Willingness and ability to work long hours, weekends, nights, and holidays as dictated by events or other such requirements.
  • Tremendous attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Office 365.
