OUR STORY

  • THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE is a charter member of Major League Baseballā€™s National League. Since 1876, the team has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee sign, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916, making it the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball.


HOW YOUā€™LL CONTRIBUTE

The Pricing Analyst is a critical role within the Strategy & Analytics department supporting one of the Cubs most important revenue streams, ticketing. With a mix of analytical and operational responsibilities, this role will optimize ticket pricing, inventory management and channel mix strategies for the organization. Further, this role will be responsible for developing and maintaining forecasting models to project and track business health. This role reports to the Senior Director, Strategy & Analytics and will require deep collaboration with Cubs Ticketing and IT colleagues to be successful.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Synthesize primary and secondary data sources to develop holistic understanding of ticket demand
  • Build and manage the development of sales pacing and velocity models to understand expected sales trends by game, product type and seating location through the sales horizon
  • Test and measure ticket distribution strategies
  • Co-own pricing decisions across all ticket types in collaboration with Ticketing colleagues
  • Support the Chicago Cubs annual revenue forecasting efforts
  • Influence and guide organizational priorities to maximize yield on ticketing products
  • Assist in the planning and forecasting activities across the organizationsā€™ business functions
  • Represent Chicago Cubs at MLB League meetings and contribute to MLB product roadmap discussions


WHAT YOUā€™LL BRING:

  • 2 ā€“ 5 yearsā€™ experience in a quantitative, analytical or client-facing role driving business value from data
  • Bachelorā€™s or Masterā€™s degree in business analytics, statistics, econometrics or related field
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of predictive modeling, including linear and logistic regression, machine learning approaches and clustering or classification techniques
  • Strong functional mastery of SQL to extract, merge and synthesize disparate datasets to drive business value
  • Intermediate to advanced modeling skills to execute statistical analysis using R, Python or equivalent tools


WHAT SETS YOU APART:

  • Experience analyzing sports, hospitality or other live events data with an emphasis on site traffic, secondary market listings and transactional sales data analysis
  • Experience with key data tools within Cubs organization including Snowflake, Google Cloud Computing Services, Looker Business Intelligence, Salesforce CRM and R
  • Professional ā€œget it doneā€ attitude and work ethic with strong interpersonal skills to facilitate interactions with colleagues across organization
