THE POSITON

The Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation is currently looking for personable, outgoing individuals to fill the role of Game Day Assistant as part of our hockey properties at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Reporting to the Manager, Game Presentation; The Game Day Assistant is responsible for the direct execution of all in-game and on-ice promotions. The position will require an ability to energize the crowd and encourage participation, as well as an ability to improvise and respond to last minute changes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILTIES

  • Coordinate with the Game Day Director for the execution of all in-game activities.
  • Attend production meetings prior to the game as required.
  • Execute all pre-game ceremonies and in-game activities.
  • Engage in constant communication with game night staff (Game Director, Field Producer, Mascot Spotter, etc.) regarding all promotions, timing, and execution.
  • Assist with the coordination of in-game talent during the games.
  • Select and brief contestants for in-game promotions and on-ice intermission features.
  • Organize and layout all prizing and promotional materials needed on a game night.
  • Liaise with the marketing department in regard to in-game and on-ice promotions.
  • Active participation in the Safety Program and follow all safety rules.
  • All other duties as assigned.

THE INDIVIDUAL

The ideal candidate will have the following background:

  • Prior experience with event production and promotions is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the sport of hockey.
  • Ability to multi-task, improvise, troubleshoot areas of concern, and work well under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with passion for interacting with people.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must be comfortable in front of large crowds and in front of a camera.
  • Schedule flexibility to work evening and weekend shifts.
