Sr. Director, Events & Entertainment

Position Reports To: Senior Vice President of Marketing

This is a full-time, exempt position. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Paid medical; Dental, Vision; 401k, Pension; most meals included.

General Description: Working under the direction of the SVP of Marketing, the Sr. Director, Events and Entertainment is responsible for oversight and management of Ravens Events, Game Entertainment and oversight of the organizations Entertainment groups (Marching Ravens, Ravens Cheerleaders, Mascot Program). The Sr. Director will be responsible for all Ravens tentpole events from inception to execution, managing and business planning for the organization's entertainment entities, and collaboratively planning, managing and executing game entertainment duties.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Event Management

  • Create and execute strategic event strategy for all Ravens tentpole events, including, but not limited to, Draft Parties, Movie Night, Training Camp, Stadium Practices, Kickoff Week, A Purple Evening.
  • Align event strategy to help achieve departmental goals and objectives, and organizational strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and manage P&L’s for each event, as well as event recaps to evaluate success.
  • Collaborate with partnership activation team to create unique and impactful opportunities for corporate partners to engage with fans at events.
  • Manage overall vendor relationships and work to identify opportunities with new vendors when applicable.
  • Work in collaboration with ticket office to identify opportunities for PSL owners within tentpole events.
  • Develop promotional plan for all events in conjunction with the advertising & brand team.
  • Partner with analytics team to identify core targets for each event based on goals and objectives.
  • Prepare & present post event and yearly recaps highlighting performance metrics to Sr. Leadership.

Entertainment

  • Lead strategic oversight and management of organizations entertainment entities, including Baltimore’s Marching Ravens, Baltimore Ravens Cheerleader and the Ravens Mascot Program.
  • Provide direction to each group throughout the season as liaison from the organization.
  • Work collaboratively with each group to set goals that meet department and organization objections and strategies.
  • Maximize impact of each group in the community through appearances, social media and other opportunities to engage with fans.
  • Manage and develop approach to drive brand strategy and consistency throughout the organization and all internal/external communication.

Game Entertainment

  • Work collaboratively with Game Entertainment stakeholders to develop game themes for each season.
  • Coordinate key gameday entertainment categories including, but not limited to pre-game entertainment (Anthem, flyovers, color guards, etc…), halftime entertainment (ceremonies, musical acts, variety acts, etc…), as well as in game break entertainment.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with stadium partners, vendors, military groups, etc…
  • Lead communication of gameday entertainment to appropriate departments, partners, staff, etc…
  • Work with music promoters/agents, etc… to secure musical talent.
  • Develop gameday script for PA announcements and game rundown in conjunction with SVP, Marketing and VP, Broadcasting and Productions
  • Set goals and metrics to evaluate success of each game and season.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing and resolving issues.
  • Develop events and entertainment budget in conjunction with the SVP, marketing.
  • Manage strategic planning, evaluation of each entity in conjunction with the SVP.
  • Participate and network within the community and industry. Join industry related associations and organizations.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to success of events and entertainment, including Media/Content, social media, Public Relations and Corporate Sales.

Required Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 10-12 years of experience in marketing, events, entertainment and game entertainment, preferably in the sports arena or team related. Minimum 4-6 years of management/supervisory experience. Proven track record as an event leader on small and large scale events ranging from several hundred to several thousand. Knowledge of the sport industry and entertainment landscape. Experience managing large groups of temporary or part-time employees. Must have the proven ability to successfully perform and deliver results under tight deadlines with last minute changes and multiple approval lines. Strong budgeting and financial management ability.

Requisite Abilities and/or Skills: Passion for the business of sports, customer focus, attention to detail, and operational excellence. Must be able to work on and manage several tasks at one time. Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan, set, and accomplish goals. Must enjoy working in a team environment as well as be a self-starter with creativity, complex problem-solving skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to work long hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
