Physiotherapist - Men's First Team

The Role


We are looking for a Physiotherapist for our Men’s First Team to deliver and drive exceptional levels of physical preparation and performance of our players for training and matches.

You will collaborate with all Medical and Performance colleagues to maximise the physical performance of our Men's First Team players, mitigate injury risk and rehabilitate them back to maximum physical capability. You'll provide crucial pitch-side medical cover for training and match day cover.

In this critical role, you will track, monitor and deliver physiotherapy interventions that mitigates injury risk and maximises physical performance. You'll also lead and assist with the assessment, treatment and diagnosis of musculoskeletal issues effecting our players to ensure they return to their maximal physical capability in a safe and effective way. You will play a crucial role in the delivery of reasoned, structured and innovative rehabilitation from injury occurrence through to return to performance.

Your day-to-day


  • Lead and deliver on critical treatments - you'll passionately lead and deliver the assessment, treatment and diagnosis of musculoskeletal issues effecting our Men's First Team players and you'll support with their rehabilitation from injury through to their return to playing
  • Provide vital support at training and matches - you will provide pitch side cover for our training sessions and match days and observe training with senior colleagues across the department when required
  • Innovate our approach to player recovery - you'll play a key role in managing and implementing an innovative approach to recovery with our Performance team and our Soft Tissue Therapists
  • Devise injury prevention and management programmes - you will create effective programmes for musculoskeletal issues being managed throughout the training week and games
  • Champion data within the department - you'll drive and deliver data visualisation to improve data collection for regular reporting, injury auditing and seasonal reviews through the use of the coaching hub data interface
  • Build exceptional relationships with players and colleagues - you will proactively build impactful relationships with players and colleagues using your excellent interpersonal skills
  • Collaborate with our Medical and Performance teams - you'll partner with colleagues to maximise the physical performance of the players, mitigate injury risk and rehabilitate them back to their maximum capability
  • Maintain comprehensive records - you will diligently ensure that we keep thorough medical records on our medical database in accordance with Premier League, CSP and HCPC requirements
  • Act as a trusted ambassador for our club - you'll ensure that you adhere to a strict code of confidentiality and you'll approach your role with integrity and the utmost discretion

What we are looking for


  • Proven track record in elite sport - you come with vast experience of working full time with elite level athletes and treating and rehabilitating sporting injuries within a high performance team environment
  • Qualified and credible expert - you hold a BSc or MSc level qualification in Physiotherapy and you're MCSP or HCPC registered
  • Up to date CPD portfolio - you come equipped with an extensive and up to date CPD portfolio
  • Experience in pitch-side treatment - you've got a background in providing exceptional pitch-side medical 'run-on' treatment for elite level sports teams
  • Excellent skills across a range of programmes and treatments - you possess exceptional levels of manual therapy and treatment skills and you have an ability to plan and deliver gym and pitch based physical preparation and rehab programmes
  • Best-in-class organisational skills - you're equipped with the ability to effectively manage resources and critical information such as medical records; with evidence of sound administrative, organisational and prioritisation skills

  • Excellent communicator - you pride yourself on your ability to build and maintain exceptional relationships with players and colleagues and communicate in a clear and engaging way
