Electrical Supervisor

Job Purpose

To facilitate the daily flow of work of the Engineering Electrical Department. To plan, coordinate and see through to completion all electrical work including routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, scheduled outages and unscheduled repairs. To ensure proper utilization of the Engineering and Electrical Departments resources as related to personnel, material and equipment.

Primary (Essential) Duties

  • Supervise and direct electric department personnel.
  • Prioritize and distribute electrical maintenance requests.
  • Purchase and control inventory needed.
  • Coordinate and schedule preventative maintenance
  • Assist with hiring and training of hourly staff.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating contractors for special projects.
  • Coordinate and schedule tri-annual shutdowns and infrared inspections
  • Manage and maintain the Sports lighting and associated equipment.
  • Maintain proper files and records.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities

  • Well versed in both Planning and Scheduling.
  • BMS management background.
  • NEC, NFPA 70E Trained.
  • Varied and expansive background in the electrical field. This should include both High and Low voltage.
  • Circuitry design, schematic drawing and print reading.
  • Proven ability to speak and write in a professional manner.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Well organized, good communicator, excellent electrical troubleshooter.
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined, with the ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Adapt to changes and needs in the building in a calculated, sensible and calm manner.
  • Works a minimum of forty hours in a workweek including weekends, evenings, early morning hours, and holidays as required.
  • Reviews and updates maintenance procedures of electricians, making recommendations for improvements.
  • Inspects facilities and installations and recommends alterations or revisions.

Experience/Education Requirements

  • High School or equivalent
  • Must have completed 4-year Electrical Apprenticeship
  • Have at least 5 years’ Experience as an Electrical Journeyman
  • Experience in Industrial, Commercial and Sports and Entertainment Industry
  • 2 to 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience min.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:

  • Lift 50 pounds
  • Climb ladders and stairs.
  • Work nights and weekends when necessary
  • See and hear well enough for safety warnings.
  • Walk for moderate distances.
