Director, Security

Job Purpose

The Director will manage the Security Department and administer policies and procedures ensuring the physical security and safety of the Arizona Diamondbacks Personnel, Guests, Facilities, Systems and Assets while promoting a positive environment. The Director will administer public and life safety contracts. The Director will assist in planning safety and security initiatives aimed to reduce risk. The Director is responsible for incident and crisis management, developing event security plans, conducting internal investigations, and leading team security operations.

Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Effectively lead and manage the Security Department and associated units
  • Develop building, event, and organizational security plans
  • Oversee deployment of security personnel, assets, and resources
  • Develop and enforce safety and security related policies and procedures
  • Conduct risk, threat and hazard assessments and implement plans to reduce risks
  • Conduct internal and corporate investigations as necessary
  • Liaison to local, state, and federal law enforcement, public safety, and emergency services agencies
  • Advise leadership on security and public safety matters
  • Assist with the development of the organizations Business Continuity and Crisis Response Plan
  • Manage third party contracts related to public safety, life safety and security services
  • Work with staff to provide support, resolve any challenges, assign work projects and trainings
  • Review security technologies and develop return on investment modeling for implementation
  • Develop and deliver security training programs to event staff
  • Respond to emergencies in a timely and efficient manner
  • Provide and foster an industry best guest experience
  • Develop and deliver annual performance evaluation of event staff

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in physical security operations, risk management, crisis and incident management, protective security operations and managing of guard forces
  • Experience conducting investigations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CCTV, VMS, Intrusion Detection, Fire Control and Alarm Systems
  • Demonstrated relationships in the law enforcement, security, and emergency services community
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to maintain sound decision-making and a positive attitude in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Ability to maintain command presence in the event of a crisis
  • Respond to incidents and be available to support staff when needed
  • Be a resource to all security staff for training and development
  • Proven computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Maintain a neat, professional appearance
  • Friendly, outgoing personality
  • Bilingual-English/Spanish a plus

Budget Responsibilities:

  • With oversight from the Vice President, Ballpark Operations, and the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, creates and manages the Security Department budget

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of security and facility management experience
  • ABI Time and Attendance, Payroll and I.D. System experience preferred
  • AXON Body Camera operation experience preferred
  • CEIA Walk-Through Metal Detection System experience preferred
  • NCS4 or ASIS Certification preferred
  • Trained Crowd Manager Certification preferred
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred
  • NIMS and ICS Training a plus
  • Prior law enforcement and military experience a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual acuity
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds, such as batteries, boxes, and bags, over reasonable distances without assistance
  • Ability to defend oneself and others
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time without assistance and in all weather conditions
  • Subject to reaching and twisting to perform essential job functions
  • Ability to reach all areas of the facility by climbing stairs and ladders without assistance
  • Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner without assistance
  • Ability to assists guests in emergencies, including pushing wheelchairs and moving persons in distress
  • Ability to work in large crowds and loud environments
