Job Summary:

The Coordinator, Media Relations is responsible for supporting club media relations efforts, including enforcing team and league media policies, managing team brand and reputation, monitoring media placement (print, television and radio) and managing football information and archives.

Primary Job Duties:

The Coordinator, Media Relations will have the daily responsibilities, without limitation, to include the following:

  • Oversees the organization’s credential process for all home games including season and single-game credentials for all media and visiting team personnel as well as internal and external staff
  • Assist in updating the team’s media website (nflomg.com)
  • Develop and manage relationships with local, national, and international media members
  • Monitor media coverage
  • Primary media relations contact for assistant coaching staff
  • Lead press box coordinator for all home games which includes pre-game set up, resolving credential issues, overseeing post-game quotes operation and assisting with post-game press conferences
  • Editor of annual Cardinals Yearbook, which includes photo layouts of players and coaches, assisting with graphic design department to create layout and finalize content
  • Administrative duties involve managing departmental invoice system in coordination with club’s finance department; overseeing new-hire process for part-time employees; handling all office supply and shipping needs
  • Facilitate and assist with hiring process of seasonal game day assistants
  • Author and edit content for team publications, including the media guide, press releases and game releases
  • Help maintain timely and accurate information relative to the club including team records, statistics and biographical information on coaches, players and front office personnel
  • Field and facilitate interview requests from national and local media for access to coaches, players and front office personnel
  • Assist with 12-person game day staff that supports all media relations and press box operations during the team’s home games
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field
  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in communications, preferably working in professional sports
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills as well as strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Suite
  • Professional demeanor with ability to communicate effectively with all individuals across the organization as well as externally (media members, clients, customers, vendors, etc.)
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and sensitivity to all media relations matters and information
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also being able to be collaborative and team-oriented
  • Ability to contribute to a healthy culture where employees feel valued, engaged, and united toward the common goals of championship-level performance
  • Ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities that require strong project management and decision-making capabilities and flexibility
  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required
  • Flexible schedule required including availability to work on event days including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must complete all pre-employment forms and successfully pass a background check
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to eight (8) hours in length
  • Ability to lift up to 20-30 pounds on a regular basis
