JOB SUMMARY: The Director, Complex Grounds is responsible for the planning, communication, and execution of the landscaping operations and maintenance services required to maintain and present a first-class, safe, and clean complex grounds at Globe Life Field, Choctaw Stadium, and other Texas Rangers properties. The Director, Complex Grounds will work in partnership with Security, Parking, REV Entertainment, City of Arlington representatives, vendors, contractors, and other internal departments to coordinate logistics, maintenance requests, and projects taking place on property or surrounding areas. Duties include, but not limited to, administrative tasks, ordering operational supplies, management and coordination of assigned staff, maintenance vendors, contractors, budget, payroll, and other assignments as needed. The Director, Complex Grounds should be prepared to work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays, and be on-call as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:
Provide support to designated staff, in all aspects of the position; this includes, but is not limited to, onboarding, training, development, and managing assigned group of employees.
Allocate budget for seasonal, part-time, and full-time grounds staff, including overtime and additional staffing needs for events.
Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports, tracking expenditures against budget and identifying any variances.
Develop long-term financial forecasts for ground and field needs, considering factors like turf renovation, technological advancements, and potential weather impacts.
Manage landscape maintenance which includes, but is not limited to, seeding, mowing, edging, aeration, fertilizer application, tree maintenance, bug and weed control applications, and other landscape needs as required.
Manage irrigation systems, including proper water management of the landscape as impacted by changing weather conditions, periodic maintenance checks, repairing of leaking lines or valves, and winterization.
Ensure all landscape surfaces and associated areas are in compliance with ADA requirements, safe of any trip hazards, debris, or any other conditions that may pose a hazard to guests.
Plant, maintain and service flower beds, shrubs, annuals & perennials.
Assists with post-event accounts payable reconciliation to ensure correct allocation of costs incurred.
Coordinate, manage, and communicate contractor schedules and information.
Coordinates with third party vendors on stand-by services needed for major events, including scheduling and post-event analysis.
Assists with data collection and analyzing of different metrics related to complex grounds maintenance and operation.
Create, maintain, and present maintenance and project tracking logs.
Assists in property management during acquisitions of buildings and land.
Maintain a professional working relationship with upper management, all departments, and staff, vendors, and guests.
Must be well organized and possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
Physical Requirements: Able to lift 50lbs frequently, stand/walk up to 8-12 hours a day.
Must possess excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think strategically and efficiently when faced with on-site issues at stressful times.
All other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2 or 4 year degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field of study – may be substituted for work experience.
Minimum of 2 years experience in a landscape maintenance leadership role and supervising staff.
Bilingual; Spanish preferred.
Ability to safely and properly tank mix fungicides/fertilizers and dispose of them in accordance with state, federal, and OSHA regulations.
Pesticide Applicator’s License or similar field maintenance certification.
Efficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer software skills.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
Ability to multi-task at a high level of detail across multiple projects.
Able to work well within a team environment, offering assistance, and support to team members whenever necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is on-call 24/7 and will require work to be performed on weekends, event nights and holidays as needed.
Outdoors and office environment.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and move with large bulk items.
Requires long periods of time on feet.
Ability to walk, sit, climb, crawl, kneel, squat, bend, and extend arms and legs fully.
Ability to use hands to manipulate and effectively use tools and controls.
Exposure to chemicals on a regular basis.
