Job Summary

The Community Relations & Social Impact Coordinator is responsible for the CHARGE employee volunteer program, as well as the coordination and fulfillment of in-kind and game experience donations, player philanthropy ticket program donations, Game Day collection drives, and activation of dozens of community and social outreach programs for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Amalie Arena. This position will report to the Director of Lightning Foundation, Community Relations and Social Impact and will work closely with the Lightning Foundation, Community Relations, Public Relations, Hockey Operations, Partnership Activation, Ticket Office, and Community Hockey staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the CHARGE employee volunteer program and create volunteering opportunities for employees, season ticket members and corporate partners to volunteer
  • Manage and fulfill in-kind donation requests made to the Tampa Bay Lightning and Amalie Arena, including requests made via TBL website as well as internal requests
  • Manage donations requests to ensure alignment with inventory of signed player merchandise and experience items, and communicate with non-profits regarding fulfillment and pick-up requests
  • Oversee execution of game night experiences including Zamboni rides and player meet & greets
  • Lead distribution of player ticket program ticket donations to designated non-profits throughout the season, including larger bulk donations for theme nights (e.g., Hispanic Heritage Night, Hockey Fights Cancer, PRIDE)
  • Assist with experiences including Make-A-Wish, to ensure visiting children and fans have a memorable experience
  • Assist with the creation and activation of Hockey is For Everyone Programming as week as NHL initiatives including Hockey Fights Cancer, Military Appreciation Night, Hockey Talks, and Go Green
  • Manage calendar of charity event sponsorships, facilitate TBL/VSG representation at sponsored events, and work with charities on needed collateral
  • Help ideate and activate programming around DE&I, Education, Mental Health and Sustainability
  • Coordinate Game Day collection & activation drives on the Plaza including toy, food and holiday drives
  • Support coordination and interface with Lightning players, coaches, alumnus and executives at community appearances, autograph signings, and events
  • Execute internal merchandise signings multiple times per year
  • Execute in-game Partnership Activation programming
  • Assist with fundraising, events, and programs conducted by the Lightning Foundation, including the Coop’s Catch and Bolt Run
  • Assist with updates of Community section of website, and supply social media and web content
  • Assist with game-day activation of the Lightning Foundation’s 50/50 raffle, as needed
  • Help maintain budget ledger of CR expenses and manage calendar of charity table events & programming
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An energetic and professional demeanor
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work long hours, weekends, and holidays while prioritizing multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Familiarity and experience with platforms of BUMP, Network4Good, and VolunteerHub is preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of non-profit, sports, public relations, or marketing experience

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in office and arena environment that can be exciting, loud and distracting
  • This is an onsite role; flexibility to work a minority of time remotely.
  • Ability to work extended hours including late nights, holidays, and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to work in cold/hot indoor and outdoor temperatures
  • Ability to use hands and fingers on office and mobile technology
  • Ability to listen and speak on phone, in meetings, and in one-on-one conversations
  • Ability to commute to various venues throughout the Greater Tampa Bay Area
  • Ability to commute/travel within the Greater Tampa Area and the US for up to one-week at a time
  • Ability to work in areas that can become crowded with equipment and/or people
  • Ability to move comfortably throughout the arena with minimal accommodations
  • Ability to work compassionately with individuals from different backgrounds and experiences
