SUMMARY:

As a successful Assistant Field Manager the main responsibility is to exercise responsibility for the preparation, maintenance, and the general appearance of the playing surface and training practice center for our soccer team. The primary function of this position is managing the use of our complex, while maintaining optimum playing conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Perform field maintenance duties including mowing, topdressing, granular and chemical fertilizer applications, weed control and string trimming.
  • Perform proper maintenance techniques to ensure a safe playable surface including special attention to goal mouths, and spot dressing with sand.
  • Paint and mark fields weekly or as needed.
  • Perform grounds maintenance, repair, and snow removal, surrounding property.
  • Operates special equipment for maintenance, repair, and renovation of field needs including but not limited to: topdresser, sod cutter, drum roller, aerator and skid steer.
  • Perform equipment and reel maintenance.
  • Conduct general inspections of athletic facilities to ensure the safety of the team and public.
  • Report potential safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Perform basic irrigation maintenance, repairs, programming, and adjustments to irrigation systems.
  • Maintain good relationships with coaching staff. Adheres to their needs for the playing surfaces and operations of the complex.
  • Coordinate irrigation needs for outside events at the complex.
  • Coordinate with Director of Grounds on fertilizer applications, cultural practices and budget.
  • Oversee and performs chemical and granular applications on schedule, in coordination with the Director of Grounds.
  • Manage the safe handling, storage, and application of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides and pesticides, ensuring proper calibration of chemical sprayers and granular spreaders.
  • Oversee overall operations of practice facility and participates in weekly operations meetings to ensure that operation standards are met
  • Assist as needed at the stadium for soccer conversions, renovation projects, match day duties, and events.
  • Maintain a clean, and sanitized shop.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Overall work environment includes exposure to wet and cold conditions, heat, and various weather conditions
  • Noise level is usually moderate
  • Ability to work with fertilizers, glyphosate, PGRs and fungicides
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, balancing, crawling and reaching
  • Ability to maintain workload, organize, schedule and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Display common sense approach to difficult or stressful situation
  • Possess the strength and endurance to perform physical demands of essential job functions with or without accommodation
  • Possess a high-energy work ethic, self-initiative, attention to detail and a positive attitude
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, balancing, crawling and reaching
  • Ability to pass a background check

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 75 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, typing, etc.
