Security Supervisor (2nd Shift)

This Security Supervisor contributes to the day-to-day operations of the Security Control Room. This position is responsible to patrol and report any activity that may involve acts of crime, terrorism, vandalism or policy and procedure infractions on the arena property. They will make determinations on what course of action will be taken to correct the situation followed up by preparing a written report of all accounts of the incident/situation.

What You Will Do:

The Security Supervisor operates in a key role that will interact with a wide variety of internal and external customers through their operational duties in the Security Control Room. This will require the communication of accurate and timely information to other members of the Security team, across shifts and leadership levels, as well as other internal departments and numerous external stakeholders, such as first responders for the City of Phoenix, media broadcast partners, and tour security for concerts and events. Some of the specific duties for this position include:

  • Contributes to the daily operation of the Security Control Room in conjunction with other Security Supervisors, Security Managers, and the Director of Security.
  • Supervise the full-time Security officers to include but not limited to hiring, distribution of work, scheduling, development, training, resolving grievances, discipline and termination when needed. This also requires evaluating staffing levels to help Managers cover needs and assign event staff to posts throughout the arena.
  • Keeps the Director of Security and Security Managers informed of all events that take place in a 24-hour day, keeping Pass on Book updated for next shift supervisor and ensure Director of Security is immediately informed of emergencies involving first responders.
  • Assists with training of Control Room staff, ensuring uniformity throughout all shifts. May assist in new hire classroom training, provide computer training to Control Room and Event Staff, and train on liqueur laws.
  • Conduct briefings-Brief each Security Officer on daily events that take place throughout the day. Assign positions as needed. Create and distribute daily security briefing email to all employees.
  • Ensures information is communicated to leadership team to maintain updates to all log books and personnel records across all three primary, full-time shifts.
  • Logs in and out all lost and found items during their shift. Removes lost items that have been in lost and found for some time and donates the lost items to St. Vincent DePaul or the Lions Club.
  • Ensures all Occupational Medical Center forms and incident and accident reports are filled out, filed, and distributed to managers and People & Culture.
  • Notify authorized individuals to open safe as needed. Notify proper individuals for pick up from Wells Fargo.
  • Log in phone calls pertaining to call-offs or late arrivals (all departments). Notifies Director of Security for any call-offs related to full-time Security Officers.
  • Coordinates with Safety & Security Coordinator when items need to be ordered. (Radios and office equipment). Calls in for radio repairs.
  • Issue visitor / vendor badges to all level zero guests and vendors. Issues lockers to full time employees. Maintains the record keeping for receiving.
  • Works with Management on improving the efficiency of the department.
  • Perform periodic patrol of all levels and exterior of the arena to observe and report damage or theft of the company property. May contribute to screening employees, guests and vendors for access to the facility
  • Respond to, evaluate and notify individuals of fire alarms inside the arena
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance

What We Need From Our Supervisor:

Successful candidates will have a high standard in interpersonal skills, demonstrating excellent verbal and written communications, outstanding customer service skills, and good judgement. Being able to think on your feet, quickly process information and balance stressful situations is a must! Additional qualities and qualifications this role requires are:

  • 3+ years security experience
  • Previous supervisor experience preferred
  • Must have a good working knowledge of the control room
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Displays initiative and assertiveness
  • H.S. Diploma
  • Prior law enforcement or military background a plus
  • Valid Arizona’s driver’s license to operate company vehicles and carts
  • Have a strong working knowledge of all security posts with the ability to exercise good judgment in a professional manner at each position. These positions include, but are not limited to: The Security Control Room, Guest Services desk, South Gate, Patrol

What You Can Expect:

While there is a set schedule, employees must be able to work according to the business needs, which include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Security Personnel do work in all weather conditions conducting multiple foot patrols of the facility without assistance or standing at stationary posts for several hours. Due to the nature of our business, employees work in an environment with large crowds and loud noises. Personnel will be subject to intense heights, including climbing ladders, walking on a catwalk 90 feet above ground level, climbing steep stairs on top levels, etc.

Security staff should be capable of:

  • Responding to emergencies in a timely manner without assistance
  • Assisting guests and staff in emergencies, including pushing wheelchairs and/or picking up, dragging, or otherwise moving persons in distress.
  • Defending themselves and/or others

This position needs personnel with visual acuity, dexterity to manipulate radios, vehicle screening mirrors, hand wands and other essential equipment and the ability to lift items weighing 25 pounds or more such as barricade, boxes, bags, etc. Staff are also required to carry objects 30 yards without assistance and have the capabilities to reach, twist, and kneel
