A quick summary about the role:

The Social Responsibility & Youth Engagement Manager will design and implement quality community outreach initiatives that align with the corporate business goals and fulfill the mission of the Social Responsibility department.

What the role will do:
  • Manage aspects of Social Responsibility that align with the department’s focus areas of education, health & wellness, homelessness and the arts. These programs include, but are not limited to ticket programs, player initiatives, Magic Fit, NBA Cares, GP/cause marketing.
  • Collaborate with Live Entertainment on all pre-game and in-game presentations, including but not limited to Hometown Hero, STEM All-Stars, Seats for Soldiers.
  • Establish relationships with community program leaders and multicultural partners.
  • Create a strategy to manage all aspects of initiatives pertaining to, but not limited to Hoops for Troops Week, Noche Latina, Black History Month, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Magic Fit, Magic Volunteer Program, and other programs, through community partnerships, program development, player and employee involvement, internal and external communication.
  • Manage two internal Autograph Sessions per year including, but not limited to managing inventory, communicating with internal representatives, planning logistics and tracking.
  • Develop and implement multicultural and community observance plan to recognize multicultural observances internally and externally in collaboration with other departments.
  • Manage aspects of the Season of Giving including, but not limited to, serving as the primary contact for the annual Shopping Spree and other initiatives.
  • Manage all aspects of ticket programs including Share the Magic and general distribution as it pertains to tracking, distribution, database management and refined policies and procedures.
  • Manage Orlando Magic game night responsibilities including, but not limited to, theme night game activations and receptions, ticket distribution, pre-game and half-time presentations for fans and community/government leaders.
  • Manage aspects community relations initiatives that align with the department’s focus areas of education, health & wellness, homelessness, and the arts and the economically underserved youth. These programs include, but are not limited to holiday outreach, ticket programs, player initiatives and volunteer and cause marketing.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to create collateral for in-game announcements, website and print materials for Community and Government Relations programs.
  • Research and track key developments, trends and best practices in the community relations and communicate such developments as appropriate.
  • Manage Community Ambassadors day-to-day management and scheduling
  • Assist in development and execution of overall plan to grow the engagement and development of youth as Orlando Magic fans and basketball.
  • Actively support the TNBA partnership to ensure alignment with our brand and core organizational values.
  • Manage the day-to-day programs, marketing and messaging of all areas of youth engagement, including Jr. Magic Leagues, Youth Basketball Camps and Clinics
  • Provide key support during our various youth initiatives, including, camps, clinics and various youth events, including:
    • Booking talent and legend appearances
    • County Middle School Basketball partnerships
  • Work closely with Ticket Sales and Global Partnerships teams to support achievement of youth revenue goals.
  • Manage entertainment bookings for camps and Jr. Magic leagues as needed.
  • Benchmark best-in-class brands for inspiration and to ensure the Orlando Magic is proactive and innovative with respect to youth sports and grassroots.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What the role needs to have:
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Public Relations or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of community outreach experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Experience in professional sports preferred.
  • Ability to work all Magic home games plus a select number of non-Magic events. This includes the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the department.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills required.
