Job Description:
Summary:
The Sports Science Associate is responsible for assisting in the delivery of sport science initiatives across all minor league affiliates. This includes the implementation and management of multiple systems designed to streamline decision making for performance and coaching staff. This position will work in coordination with the Sports Science Manager to develop an industry leading applied sports science program within the New York Mets minor league system.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Work in coordination with the Sports Science Manager to develop systems designed to maximize player talent and readiness over an entire season.
Coordinate with performance staff to implement routine athlete monitoring and testing protocols across affiliate teams.
Support and collaborate with performance staff using data-driven insights to better inform practices.
Regularly oversee data collection and testing procedures with available technologies.
Assist in maintaining relevant databases and reporting structures for performance and coaching staff.
Assist in athlete rehabilitation and reconditioning by providing objective information to guide decision making.
Collaborate with analytics to better quantify performance in baseball and assist in player development.
Perform research in the areas of performance profiling, epidemiological studies, and wellness monitoring.
Collaborate with the Field Staff to develop solutions for on-field performance deficits.
Regularly present information to staff on both internal and external research that is prevalent to athlete performance and health.
Be a positive, effective, and collaborative staff member.
Maintain knowledge of latest practices in applied sport science.
Maintain all professional credentials and licensure.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Exercise Science, Physiology, or related degree.
CPR/First Aid certification.
1+ years’ experience in a similar role.
Experience working with teams/athletes in high-level sport (Professional sports, Division I athletics).
Experience with athlete monitoring/testing equipment and procedures (force plates, athlete position systems, dynamometers/load cells, position transducers, etc.)
Experience with athlete management systems, or similar databases.
Evidence of basic data handling skills (cleaning, analyzing, visualizing, and reporting).
Evidence of continued professional development and education (workshops, accreditations, etc.)
Excellent communication skills with coaches, athletes, and staff.
Excellent ability to provide oral and written updates on the readiness of the team/players.
Up to date knowledge of the latest trends in applied sport science and relevant research.
A positive, friendly personality with a passion for assisting others in achieving their goals.
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
Must be able to work unconventional hours.

Salary: $15 an hour
