LOCATION: Etihad City Football Academy – Orangeburg, NY/ St. John’s University – Jamaica, Queens


POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Academy Athletic Trainer (AAT) manages the day-to-day sports medicine operations for New York City Football Clubs Academy teams. In this capacity, the AAT provides injury prevention strategies, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation for players’ medical problems. This position will also work with the Performance Department to plan and deliver best practice support to Academy players, including the administration of the strength & conditioning, nutrition, recovery, daily monitoring, and fitness testing programs, among other tasks. The AAT works under the direction and supervision of the Medical Lead and Head of Performance Services

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Performs as Certified Athletic Trainer in managing the health care of Academy players. Health care includes, but is not limited to: first aid / emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, developing rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals
  • Maintain a complete and up to date roster of player health and participation records in the League-provided electronic medical record system.
  • Order, maintain and inventory supplies and clinical equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
  • Assist with the Youth Affiliate education program
  • Assist with the Performance Department in planning, delivering, and evaluating physical development sessions to maximize individual performance
  • Technical responsibilities will include the development, implementation, and delivery of the following:
    • Return to play protocols
    • Strength and Conditioning
    • Warm-up
    • Data Monitoring/GPS
  • Assist with monitoring and assessment of Academy players, including management of data collection, analysis, reporting, and providing feedback to coaches and players
  • Assist with practical implementation of appropriate nutrition and hydration strategies for players
  • Apply an interdisciplinary approach with close links to other stakeholders including MLS2 and First Team
  • Assist with periodization of the teams’ off-season, preseason, and in season programs


WHO YOU ARE:

  • Certified Athletic Trainer with a NY State License
  • In good standing with NATABOC and a member of the NATA (or CATA)
  • Minimum of 2 years paid experience in the field of sports medicine
  • Certified strength & conditioning coach (CSCS) preferred
  • Current professional CPR certification
  • Possess personal professional liability insurance
  • History of working with young athletes
  • Medical soccer experience preferred
  • Bilingual/Spanish speaker preferred

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary

COMPENSATION:

This position has an estimated annual base salary range of $52,500 to $55,000. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and same role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise.
