Broadcast Operations - Local Game Production

Position Summary

  • Manages the broadcast operations required in the execution of the day-to-day acquisition, production and delivery of the NBA’s local broadcasts
  • Work with the various departments at the NBA in the support of broadcast initiatives including Broadcast Engineering, Production, Broadcasting, Basketball Operations, and Events
  • Work directly with Broadcast Operations in execution of the day-to-day to ensure flawless, and seamless productions / broadcasts

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the scheduling, logistics, coordination, and communication supporting local game productions produced by the NBA.
  • Manage day to day interaction with vendors providing master control services, production services, and transmission services in operational support of local game productions.
  • Develop processes and workflows surrounding daily operations.
  • Manage the booking of crews, facilities and transmission for NBA production needs.
  • Support usage of HSAN including Back Haul Services & Point to Point requests.
  • Create broadcast & logistical schedules for use by internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with Broadcast Engineering to streamline workflows and create operational efficiencies.
  • Build out and lead local operations team.
  • Collaborate with NBA teams and vendors to ensure successful production and delivery of broadcasts.
  • Manage budgets and guide production on costs.
  • On occasion lead remote broadcast operations.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Lead and develop processes and workflows surrounding daily operations
  • Create and manage operational efficiencies to streamline workflows in collaboration with Broadcast Engineering
  • Build out and lead local operations teams
  • Responsible for the scheduling, logistics, coordination, and communication supporting local game productions produced by the NBA
  • Manage day-to-day interaction with vendors providing master control services, production services, and transmission services in operational support of local game productions
  • Drive the reinvention of processes and workflows, introduce new tools and methodologies surrounding daily operations
  • Manage the booking of crews, facilities and transmission for NBA production needs
  • Support usage of HSAN including Back Haul Services & Point-to-Point requests
  • Create broadcast & logistical schedules for use by internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with NBA teams and vendors to ensure successful production and delivery of broadcasts
  • Manage budgets and guide production on costs
  • On occasion lead remote broadcast operations
  • Build and maintain working relationships with operational counterparts at NBA teams, broadcast partners, and transmission service providers
  • Create and define metrics for evaluating performance, quality of work, and customer satisfaction; coach and mentor teams focusing on continuous improvement as a goal
  • Work with Engineering to identify new technology and operational efficiencies
  • Collaborate with both internal and external departments and vendors
  • Communicate with and provide regular updates to senior leadership

Experience Needed:

  • 8-10 years experience in broadcast operations, production or related fields.

Educational Background Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Technology or other related studies.

Salary Range: [[$160,000 - $195,000]]
