Group and Position Summary
This position will support business development, deal execution and partner mangement for the NBA's media distribution business, focusing on the NBA’s partnerships across media and content partners. This position will participate in the business development and dealmaking process and, after the completion of deals, will work closely across multiple internal NBA constituencies to operationalize partnerships. This person will manage key aspects of multiple partnerships, ensuring conformance with agreements, alignment of business priorities and tracking progress of NBA and partner KPIs.
Major Responsibilities
• Operationalization of media and content partnerships, including onboarding of new partners and identification of, and planning for business priorities
• Project management for national media activations
• Cultivate partner relationships, including developing day-to-day operational relationships with existing and prospective new partners
• Participate in business development, analysis, deal strategy and complex negotiations with partners across media partners, distribution platforms and content providers
• Foster strong working relationships and collaboration across multiple internal NBA departments, including Legal, Product and Media Ops/Technology, Basketball Ops, Direct-to-Consumer, Global Partnerships, Marketing, Content, International, and Production and Programming
Required Education / Relevant Experience
• 5-7 years experience in media and/or business affairs and negotiations
• JD or MBA preferred
Required Skills/ Knowledge Attributes
• Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience
• Minimum of 3-5 years of negotiating complex media distribution deals or other comparable experience
• Knowledge of the US media landscape and media technology
• Creative problem-solving abilities and enterprising business development skills
• Strong analytical and negotiating expertise
• Experience dealing with (or advising on) professional sports media issues preferred
Salary Range: $170,000 - $200,000
