Ford Ice Center- Clarksville Rink Programming Internship


Ford Ice Center/F&M Bank Arena offers full-time college students the opportunity to gain hands on experience and earn college credit at the same time! Our internships make it possible for students to learn how a professional sports and entertainment venue operates daily. We are looking for an energetic and outgoing individual who has a positive, can-do attitude, and has a strong desire to learn and be part of the organizations culture. In addition to the duties and objectives listed below, students will receive the opportunity to gain exposure to different departments and entities within the organization. Please read below for requirements and description.

You must be eligible to earn academic credit for this internship. The organization does not provide housing or transportation accommodations.

Internship Responsibilities:

  • Assist in responding to general inquiries about Ford Ice Center programming.
  • Assist with season events such as Youth & Adult Hockey Programming, Scott Hamilton Skating Academy Programming, and more.
  • Research youth/adult hockey and fan development programs from around the NHL.
  • Support day-to-day operations of hockey classes, clinics and leagues conducted by the Ford Ice Center Hockey Staff.
  • Assist in marketing, registration and logistics of on-ice programs to include, but not limited to responding to email/phone inquiries, social media campaigns, and projects.
  • Assist Rink Programming Manager and Marketing coordinator with projects and specific duties related to hockey programming budgets, registrations, and evaluation.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy Learn to Skate classes are professionally executed.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner and in accordance with company policies.
  • Partner with staff and clientele to maintain a positive atmosphere.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy Learn to Skate classes are professionally executed.
  • Act as liaison between the client and facility, ensuring that all requirements are met and facility rules, regulations and policies are upheld.
  • Proven ability to meet stringent deadlines through multi-tasking, and ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic office equipment.
  • Effective communicator and decision-maker in a high-pressure, fast-paced work environment.
  • Proven ability to develop, organize and communicate event documents for the staging of large-scale public events.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and some late nights as dictated by the events schedule.
  • All interns must be students at accredited colleges and universities, with the ability to earn academic credit for time spent in an internship position.
  • Juniors and Seniors preferred, but not required.
  • Internships do not provide compensation, housing, or transportation.
  • Internships do not guarantee full-time positions with the organization upon completion.
  • As a condition of internship, qualified applicant will be subject to a background check, which will at a minimum include a criminal background check and character references and if applicable, may include a driving history check.
