Summary of Job Description
The Miami Marlins are seeking a dedicated Player Education Specialist to enhance the
language development and professional growth of international players, both on and off the
field. This role will be key in providing instruction and support in the areas of language
acquisition, cultural adaptation, and life skills development. The Player Education Specialist
will work closely with players and staff to ensure a supportive learning environment, helping
them build confidence and resilience as they navigate the demands of professional baseball.
Responsibilities
• Curriculum and Instruction
o Teach ESL, continually reinforcing terminology used across departments
o Design engaging lessons and effective educational materials that align with
curriculum goals
o Contribute to the ongoing development of a comprehensive player curriculum
• Life Skills Development
o Conduct lessons on life skills, including financial literacy, time management,
health and wellness, making good decisions, resilience, leadership and more
o Provide players with strategies to handle the challenges of being a professional
• Cultural Adaptation
o Assist international players in adapting to all the facets of U.S. culture
o Help coordinate and lead extracurricular/community activities
o Promote cultural understanding and effective communication within the team
• Mentorship and Support
o Mentor players, offering guidance and support throughout their careers
o Help cultivate a supportive environment for development on and off the field
o Work with other staff to implement a strategic system of support for players
who are struggling on or off the field
Required Skills and Preferred Qualifications
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish with strong verbal and written skills
• Experience with diverse populations and cross-cultural communication
• Background in education, language acquisition, and life skills development
• Strong ability to build rapport and provide and receive constructive feedback
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Skilled using digital tools for language instruction
• Bachelor’s degree in education is preferred
• 3+ years of experience in language instruction and within baseball is preferre
