Our Story

Manchester City Women is an English football club initially founded by City in the Community in 1988. Relaunched by a formal partnership with Manchester City FC, MCWFC entered the FA Women’s Super League and professionalised in 2014. Success has followed in not only the FAWSL but also the Women’s FA Cup and Continental Tyres League Cup, while the team has regularly competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. ​

The team plays its home fixtures at Joie Stadium, a 7,000 capacity arena. The stadium sits on the wider Etihad Campus, which also encompasses the City Football Academy, a state-of-the-art training and development facility that houses its women’s, men’s and academy teams. ​

Our Winning Team

UK Youth Lead Scout Purpose:

To provide an extensive and in-depth knowledge of the youth football market within the UK. To be part of a successful, high performing scouting & recruitment team by implementing long-term delivery of our talent strategies for Manchester City Women FC Academy. To impact the decision-making process positively and significantly for high level talent through effective scouting and recruiting. To document, report and communicate high potential players both internally in MCWFC and externally to MCWFC Talent ID lead, age group Head Coaches and Academy Manager.

Coaching Purpose:

When acting as assistant coach, you will support the delivery of relevant, innovative & enjoyable coaching practices to enable these individuals to maximize their potential. Although you will work predominantly with older age groups (U14-EDS) you are also required to work closely together with coaches and age groups (U12-EDS) to collaborate and continually evolve MCWFC’s methodology/ game model, maximise player development, support, and progression through the player pathway both on and off the pitch. Culminating in the integration into MCWFC’s 1st team.

Your Impact

UK Youth Lead Scout role specific accountabilities:

  • Extensive, documented knowledge of all relevant high potential players at U9-EDS age groups nationally in the UK.
  • To provide comprehensive reports and assessments of high potential players at U9-EDS age groups at a national level in the UK.
  • To understand and comply with all relevant FIFA, FA grassroots, PGA regulations appropriate to the scouting of players in the U9-UEDS age groups.
  • To create, update, evolve and communicate age specific talent ID strategy (U9 – EDS age groups).
  • To create, update, evolve, and lead talent ID assessments and depth chart meetings (U9 – EDS age groups).
  • To consistently document and compile scouting reports and recommendations for (U9 – EDS age groups).

Development Coach Role specific accountabilities:

  • To assist an age group; coach to motivate and develop the individual players to enable them to develop into MCWFC 1st team players, whilst winning games by playing beautiful football.
  • To understand and produce key training sessions and programs to enable individual players to successfully transition from the age group to age group in line with the Club’s footballing philosophy.
  • To assist in the implementation and delivery of individual learning plans for your designated age group squad, whilst having an age specific understanding of Technical, Tactical, Physical, Psychological, and social development.
  • Ability to identify individual skills and apply appropriate coaching, technical and tactical development tailored to the individual player.
  • To work cooperatively with all academy staff and to maintain relationships with the player’s parents or their guardians.

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Professional qualification at UEFA B/A Licence level
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical, tactical, physical and social development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of individual development.
  • FA Youth Award and FA Advanced Youth Award
  • Valid FA Safeguarding Children Certificate
  • Holds enhanced DBS check
  • Full UK driving license & access to vehicle.
  • Level 2 Talent ID certificate
  • EFAiF qualification
  • Passionate about youth recruitment & talent identification.
  • Ability to understand and work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to solve problems within a competitive and fast-moving environment.
  • Management of an U9 – U16 Lead Coach role (minimum level)
  • Previous experience working within the girls and or boys foundation and youth development phase
  • Previous experience and proven success of working in elite level youth scouting.

Desirable

  • FA Level 3 & 4 Talent ID qualification
  • Video editing / HUDL / SportCode
  • Experience of working and delivering in a sporting environment
  • Previous management experience – anticipating problems and offering effective solutions.
