Job Title: Trainee – Player Development

Job Summary: The Kansas City Royals are seeking multiple individuals to work closely with the

coaching staff at each of our minor league affiliates. Associates will be asked to operate and implement all video and baseball technology and oversee the collection of video and data at their respective affiliates. All positions will start during Minor League Spring Training and end upon the conclusion of their respective Minor League season, with the potential of extending into Instructional League. This role is intended to serve as an entry-level position to provide experience and exposure to all aspects of player development.

Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of all video and baseball technology (BATS, Hawkeye, Edgertronic, TrackMan, etc.)
  • Setup, record, chart, and upload all game and non-game video
  • Assist with advance scouting and game planning
  • Assist with special projects across the organization as assigned
  • Provide all necessary support to coaching staff and players

Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Familiarity with TrackMan, Edgertronic, or any other forms of
  • baseball technology
  • Experience charting games (BATS, Hawkeye, or Trackman)
  • Strong communicator and ability to work with others
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing environments
  • Growth mindset and a willingness to think outside of the box
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and various cloud storage websites
  • (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.)
  • Prior experience with video editing software (Adobe Products)
  • Background in baseball/softball; Playing, Coaching, Student Manager, etc.
  • Coding experience (R, SQL, or Python) is a plus but not required
  • Bilingual candidates preferred but not required to apply

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift items weighing as much as 25 pounds
  • Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk in warm/humid climates
  • Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling

This role is a Part-Time, Non-Exempt opportunity that is not eligible for Company Benefits, 401K, and PTO. The schedule for this position is dependent on our team schedule and is subject to change.
