Job Title: Director โ€“ Media Sales

Job Summary: The Kansas City Royals are looking for a results-oriented sales leader to generate and develop media (radio) revenue. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Partnership Development, the Director will be a key revenue focused leader within the Corporate Partnerships team. This sales professional will be responsible for identifying, developing and managing new Kansas City Royals media dollars from proposal development all the way to ad placements and account management.

The Director, Media Sales will be responsible for driving revenue across the enterprise by developing targeted media packages with local, regional, and national companies and agencies, while building strong long-term relationships. This individual is expected to have a thorough understanding of all aspects of media sales. This individual must have a passion for driving revenue, meeting department and team goals and serve as a media expert for prospective brands.

Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Research, identify, and track media prospects regionally and nationally within all industries and segments.
  • Generate and grow relationships with regional and national agencies to curate repeat media buys.
  • Build relationships with affiliates across entire Royals Radio Network
  • Prospect, pitch, and close new media deals in support of individual and department revenue goals
  • Ability to leverage data to tell the impact of Royals Radio Network
  • Build and maintain a robust list of prospective targets at all times.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving trends in the sports media landscape and proactively curate innovative solutions.
  • Lead departmental direction in overall understanding of including media in new sponsorship pitches, renewals and upsells for all team members.
  • Collaborate with Partnership Marketing team to ensure fulfillment of client deliverables.
  • Provide weekly reporting of sales metrics including pipeline generation, account status, revenue and quota attainment, and relevant interactions.
  • Ability to attend games and events to entertain prospects and clients.


Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree
  • Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience in media sales or other related sales
  • Experience developing and selling integrated media packages.
  • Understanding of sports partnerships
  • Experience developing engaging and impactful sales plans and presentations, proposals and associated contract negotiations.
  • Must bring a love of solving strategic business challenges with creative solutions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must be timely and have a flexible work schedule in order to deal effectively with special event responsibilities throughout the year: weekends, nights and holidays as dictated by events or requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift items weighing as much as 15 pounds
  • Must be able to work in a seated position for majority of workday
  • Must be able to be productive utilizing a computer keyboard and telephone
  • Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be comfortable walking to navigate the facility to access the office, concourse, etc.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling

This role is a Full-Time, Exempt opportunity that is eligible for Company Benefits, 401K, and PTO. This role is expected to have a standard 40-hour work week.
