Job Title: Culinary Services Fellow (seasonal)

Job Summary: The Kansas City Royals Culinary Services Fellow is responsible for assisting our major league players, coaches, and staff quality meals three times daily. Due to the demanding schedule in Major League Baseball, our “patrons” spend long hours at the stadium. To optimize their performances, we need to maintain cuisine that unique, healthy, and diverse enough to satisfy each person who comes into the Clubhouse Café.

Position Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Execution of the Kansas City Royals Nutrition System.
  • Maintain effective communication regarding daily menus, the various items we stock, ordering these items as they run low, general cleanliness of the space, and prep for following game.
  • Collaborate with culinary services manager to execute catering delivery time and area.
  • Integrate additional feeding times for injured players and the injury rehabilitation staff.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Culinary Services and Director of Sports Nutrition in the development and growth for the Kansas City Royals Performance Nutrition system.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Manager Culinary Services or Director of Nutrition.
  • Hours include nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Position Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • KCMO food handler card or SERVSAFE completion certificate.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience within classroom kitchen or restaurant food service.
  • Experience within collegiate or professional sports, preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of food service operations, quality control, and safety practices.
  • Knowledge and application of basic food practices, food management, specialized equipment.
  • Excellent communication
  • Computing - proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and record keeping abilities.
  • Self-motivator, ability to work independently as well as within a group.
  • Confidentiality

  • Duration: When team is at home, April through end of season - may include post-season coverage

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift items weighing as much as 40 pounds
  • Must be able to be productive in a work environment where the noise level can be high at times
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to work a varying schedule which includes extended hours and/or weekends as required by deadlines and event scheduling

This role is a seasonal, Part-Time, Non-Exempt opportunity that is not eligible for Company Benefits, 401K, and PTO. The schedule for this position is dependent on our team schedule and is subject to change.
