JOB SUMMARY

The Painting Specialist is part of the Central Plant Engineering team, and their primary role is to maintain and repair the various systems at the PS&E campus, which includes Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Ascension St Vincent Center and the Bicentennial Unity Plaza. This position will focus on painting and dry wall repair throughout the campus but may also assist the members of the team with other general maintenance duties. The successful individual must have extensive painting and drywall experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Painting indoor and outdoor throughout the campus including wall repair.
  • Fit and fasten wallboard or drywall into position on frameworks, using glue, nails, or screws.
  • Wash and treat surfaces with stain blocker, mildew remover, or other preparations, and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere accurately.
  • Assist with aspects of coordinating contractors for special projects that involve surface impacts including painting, graphics, and signage.
  • Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements or work orders.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance of equipment throughout all buildings.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to accurately address them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Provide groundskeeping services, such as snow removal.

  • Perform miscellaneous maintenance-related tasks as assigned.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of extensive painting & drywall repair/finishing required.
  • Basic working knowledge of mechanical systems.


COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Basic computer skills are mandatory and at a minimum the employee should be familiar with the MS Office suite of products - especially Word, Excel and Outlook.


PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to learn, be trained, and understand the basics of mechanical repairs to assist other team members.
  • Capability to make independent assessments of needs related to painting, wall repair, and other general maintenance.
  • Proven problem-solving skills to determine and successfully implement effective solutions.

In addition, this job requires the employee to be outside in extreme heat or cold and work with various materials like oils, solvents, cleaning chemicals, and other.

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate and the noise level in Gainbridge Fieldhouse / game environment is usually loud. The stress level may become high during certain times of the year.
