Deputy Head Groundsperson

    The positions purpose is to assist the Head of Grounds with the management and maintenance of the pitches, landscapes, machinery, workshop, and yard in line with the high standards expected of an elite football club and one that meets the requirements of both the Squad Management, the team, and its Directors.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    To assist as required with Pitch maintenance duties; mowing, scarification, aeration, fertilising, spraying, marking out. To the required standard of the Head of Grounds.

    Assist with new ideas to constantly improve the site.

    Ensure the Management Team are kept informed of all routine works and are notified of any issues as soon as identified.

    Manage staff to achieve end goals both productively and efficiently.

    Order and organise site deliveries and contractual works when required. Implement regular testing and analysis of the training ground pitches to ensure consistent.

    Setting up of machinery, blades, tractors, pto shafts and 3-point linkages in line with requirements of tasks and Head of Grounds direction.

    Assist with setting and implementing fertiliser programs.

    Assist Head of Grounds with the planning and overseeing of renovation works.

    Ensure all goals and pitch equipment is maintained and safe for players use.

    Ensure staff always comply with relevant health and safety legislation.

    Perform daily irrigation requirements, set programs, and carry out routine maintenance on sprinklers and the system.

    Work with the Head of Grounds maintaining staff annual leave, sickness, and lieu time records.

    Under guidance of the Head of Grounds liaise with coaching staff to ensure proper use of all playing surfaces.

    Ensue all playing surfaces are safe to use before daily sessions.

    Site walks to determine work schedules and oversee daily tasks.

    Ensure staff are trained and confident on machinery and the tasks they are set.

    Wear PPE appropriately for each task.

    Carry out and record day to day machinery checks.

    Assist with keeping the yard and workshop tidy and safe.

    Ensure that the COSHH instructions for material storage and use are always complied with.

    Assist Head of Grounds with health and safety requirements, keeping updated with latest legislation.

    Deploy and plan frost covers being used and use of undersoil heating systems.

    Assist with staff development.

    Ensure daily diary entries are made and that all admin and record keeping is kept up to date.

    Implement Synthetic maintenance plans.

    Assist and produce weekly work schedules when required.

    SAFEGUARDING

    • To be consistent role models;

    • To complete the Fulham safer Working Practice Workshop as part of induction and the FA Safeguarding Children

    workshop; and

    • To monitor repeated incidents of poor behaviour and liaise with their DSO or Head of Safeguarding.
