We are The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, one of six continental confederations of FIFA. Concacaf serves as the governing body of football in this part of the world. It is composed of 41 national associations united by the passion for football, from Canada and the United States in the north to Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana in the south.

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Public Relations Manager will lead the day-to-day proactive public relations (PR) efforts at the organization, focusing primarily on the delivery of a strategy to communicate important Concacaf stories and initiatives which highlight the ongoing growth and development of all aspects of football in the region.

This role will work closely with the Director of Communications and will have regular engagement with several departments across the organization, in particular the Confederation’s Member Associations, Brand Marketing, Commercial and Football Development departments. The role will also include some support for the delivery of the organization’s internal communications strategy.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work closely with the Director of Communications to deliver PR strategies to promote all aspects of Concacaf.
  • Develop and deliver high quality strategies to promote Concacaf’s work to support its Member Associations.
  • Play a leading role in raising awareness regionally and internationally of Concacaf’s women’s football strategy (“Concacaf W”) and women’s competitions.
  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of commercial PR and brand PR which promotes Concacaf’s campaigns, partnerships and activations.
  • Manage day to day relationship with Concacaf PR agencies.
  • Regular engagement with sports business and lifestyle media across the region to promote Concacaf; ensure media enquiries in these areas are promptly managed.
  • Support the briefing of Concacaf spokespeople for panel events and media appearances.
  • Oversee the development of internal corporate and PR reports.
  • Support the delivery of Concacaf’s internal communications strategy.


SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree; in communication-related field preferable.
  • At least six years of combined experience in PR/Communications or related field.
  • Direct PR/Communications agency experience and/or experience of managing PR agencies (client-side) considered a major plus.
  • PR/Communications experience for a regional or global brand is a plus.
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • High level of proficiency in another Concacaf language (Spanish, French or Dutch) considered a plus.
  • Impeccable writing and editing skills.
  • Strong management skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter who can work independently within set objectives.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while working as both part of a team as well as independently.
  • Line management and budget management experience.
  • Experience of working and multi-tasking in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to solve challenges in a multicultural environment.
  • A passion for sport and its wider benefits.
  • Knowledge of the football industry and passion for the sport is a plus but not essential.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Team player, professional, positive attitude, pride in work product.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while working as both part of a team as well as independently.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information is critical and professionalism in dealing with others both inside and outside of the confederation is a must.
  • Candidate must have the flexibility to travel nationally and internationally for the performance of his/her duties. Approximate travel requirement: 30%

Due to the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying schedules including game nights to reflect the business needs of the company.
