Concacaf serves as the governing body of football in this part of the world. POSITION PURPOSE:
The Broadcast Operations Director is responsible for the successful delivery of all Concacaf productions including matches, Draws and other Confederation events. This role will focus on delivering a best-in-class standard of production, unparalleled service to rightsholders and internal stakeholders, and meticulous management of vendor relationships and the budget.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Establish coverage standards for all competition and event productions, based on contractual obligations and the Confederation’s strategy.
  • Determine the most cost effective and reliable transmission set up for all Concacaf productions. Such set up must guarantee 99.9% reliability results.
  • Manage procurement and contract processes to select the vendors needed to guarantee that all technical and production needs are met, based on budget, and contractual obligations.
  • Work with the production team and external vendors, to establish the strategy for servicing rightsholders pre, during, and post events.
  • Coordinate with rightsholders and internal teams on the decisions regarding kick off times and tournaments schedules.
  • Assist the Football Competitions Division by providing guidelines on the standards for stadium broadcasting areas.
  • Work with the Development department in the creation and implementation of feeds for match performance analysis.
  • Coordinate with the Refereeing and Competitions departments on the implementation of VAR as well as the flow of information to the rightsholders.
  • Coordinate with the Media department, to establish guidelines for rightsholders and non-rightsholders’ access to games and events.
  • Coordinate with rightsholders, clubs, national teams, and internal stakeholders the access, creation, and use of footage around Concacaf’s live events.
  • Coordinate with the Commercial department on the implementation of any live event initiative, including, but not limited to, virtual advertising, multi feed creation, or live musical performances.
  • Based on brand guidelines and contract needs, define, coordinate, contract, and execute on air graphics packages for all events.
  • Guarantee flawless delivery of live events and additional content to Concacaf’s Digital department as well as other internal stakeholders.
  • Enforce quality control procedures for all Concacaf productions to guarantee best in class delivery and consistency across productions.
  • Work closely with Digital department to determine best practices that benefit the Confederation’s content strategy taking into consideration contractual obligations with third parties.
  • Create and manage the broadcast operations budget.
  • Define the broadcast technology strategy and standards of the Confederation so it stays up to date with industry developments.
  • Establish, manage, and execute Concacaf’s archive management strategy, based on contractual obligations, historic memory preservation, and revenue generation possibilities.
  • Create and execute additional revenue generation opportunities around Concacaf tournaments.
  • Continue to expand The Broadcast Academy to provide training opportunities for broadcast professionals from across the Concacaf region with a special focus on underrepresented groups.
  • Operate and implement Concacaf's own content outlets, including but not limited to its FAST Channel and other direct to consumer initiatives.
  • Provide support and consultancy to Concacaf’s member associations around broadcast operations procedures, technology, and contract negotiations.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that s/he can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in broadcast or related field.
  • Football (soccer) expert with a solid understanding and passion for the game worldwide, but with an emphasis on the Concacaf region.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in broadcast operations and production management, as a host broadcaster or rightsholder with successful projects in the Caribbean, Central America, and North America.
  • Deep technical knowledge of production and transmission. Must be well versed in areas including, but not limited to satellite, IP, fiber, and bundled transmission; remote, cloud production, HDR and UHD.
  • Excellent understanding of the media market in the Concacaf region. Knowledge of territories outside of Concacaf is a plus.
  • Experience managing budgets, procurement processes, and administering vendor relationships.
  • Experience with on-air graphics package technology, from creation to implementation.
  • Strong understanding of sports programming and scheduling for both linear and nonlinear outlets.
  • Excellent business communication skills, both written and verbal. Ideal candidate is bi-lingual (English and Spanish). French or Dutch a plus.
  • Ability to efficiently produce written materials in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong management skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills, in order to work effectively with partners, internal management/co-workers and vendors.
  • Experience of working and multi-tasking in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously while working as both part of a team as well as independently.
  • Candidate must have the flexibility to travel nationally and internationally for the performance of his/her duties. Approximate travel requirement: 40%+

Due to the cyclical nature of the sports and entertainment industry, the employee will be required to work varying schedules including game nights to reflect the business needs of the company.
