DIRECTOR OF PLAYER PERSONNEL

The Director of Player Personnel is responsible for the management, planning and analysis of the roster for Columbus Crew first and second teams. This role oversees roster & budget.

Essential functions

• Support the General Manager and the Technical Director on the club’s roster strategy
• Fully understand and optimize the MLS Roster and Budget Guidelines, and communicate strategies accordingly
• Maintain oversight on the salary cap and player contracts, including projections, bonuses, and trades
• Participate in club’s strategic financial planning
• Aid in player transfers, recruitment, negotiations, and signing processes for the first team and the second team
• Lead the analytics and soccer systems departments of club’s needs across scouting, technical, and performance departments
• Further and protect the club’s interests through communication with the League Office and federations
• Participate in committees and working groups created by the League Office
• Establish and maintain international relations and other strategic planning with the General Manager
• Participate in the creation of presentations and decks for ownership and key stakeholders
• Other functions

Requirements

• Minimum of 5+ years experience in a similar role at a professional soccer club or institution
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a high performing environment.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
• Multilingual is a plus.
