OUR STORY
THE CHICAGO CUBS FRANCHISE The Chicago Cubs franchise, a charter member of Major League Baseball’s National League since 1876, has won the National League pennant 17 times and was the first team to win back-to-back World Series titles in the 1907 and 1908 seasons. In 2016, the Chicago Cubs made history again when the team won its first World Series in 108 years, ending the longest championship drought in North American sports. Known for its ivy-covered outfield walls, hand-operated scoreboard and famous Marquee, iconic Wrigley Field has been the home of the Chicago Cubs since 1916 and is the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. In 2009, the Ricketts family assumed ownership of the Chicago Cubs and established three main goals for the organization: Win the World Series, Preserve and Improve Wrigley Field, and Be a Good Neighbor.

HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE:

The HR Generalist will be responsible for supporting the Ballpark Operations department and acting as the primary HR point of contact during events taking place at Wrigley Field. Due to the live events nature of our business, this will require the ideal candidate to be available 80-100 nights, weekend and holiday days per year to support our Ballpark operations Associates. This role is accountable to ensure operational excellence in the execution of all HR processes and compliance with all applicable plans, contracts, collective bargaining agreements, laws, and regulations.


THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Support all people processes for seasonal ballpark staff, including onboarding, accommodations, policy implementation and adherence, training, performance management, and off-boarding
  • Interpret and advise on HR policies; maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees
  • Support Employee Relations needs, including conducting investigations in a thorough manner and ensure consistent application of disciplinary actions
  • Provide day-to-day coaching and performance management guidance; work with managers and employees to build strong work relationships, resulting in high productivity and associate retention
  • Consult with and advise managers on employee and labor relations; maintain understanding of all collective bargaining agreements
  • Guide managers through the execution of HR processes and programs (e.g., on-boarding, performance management, recruitment, compensation planning, etc.)
  • Assist in developing and executing policies and processes for all Operations employees, including but not limited to onboarding, training, performance management, and off-boarding
  • Work with business managers and HR team to identify and implement HR process improvements
  • Manage administrative tasks for assigned employee groups, including data entry in Workday; ensure all data remains accurate and is entered in a timely manner
  • Respond to employee questions in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist in the communication and interpretation of all organizational policies

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of human resources experience
  • Minimum 1 year of employee relations experience
  • Availability to work 80-100 night, weekend, and holiday days per year to support operations at Wrigley Field, including Cubs games, concerts and other major events
