Position Overview

Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is looking for an intern for the Guest Experience and Arena Operations departments. This position will play an integral role in event day operations, day to day operations and help lead our staff of part time employees. The Guest Experience/Arena Operations Intern will be rotating throughout departments in the areas of arena operations, event management, building operations, security, and guest experience.

This is a paid internship. Interns will be paid $12.00 per hour, with the ability to work thirty (30) hours maximum per week. The 2024-2025 season program runs from September 9, 2024 through April 25, 2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with department daily and administrative duties.
  • Organize and manage Arena Operations and Guest Experience projects.
  • Learn and execute each event staff role
  • Assist in vendor/partner relations.
  • Assist with part-time recruiting and help to develop process improvements and/or training plans to enhance team member performance.
  • Assist in regularly reviewing and analyzing guest service data to generate actions plans that address service deficiencies/goals.
  • Assist with pre-event and event day operations and support associated with all Spectrum Center events.
  • Assist with management of day of show responsibilities
  • Engage in the full internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadow opportunities and work closely with fellow interns to successfully complete and present the intern project.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Sport Management/Administration or Hospitality major or related experience preferred
  • Possess a strong ability to manage own time, multi-task and prioritize tasks when given clearly defined deadlines, goals and objectives.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information.
  • Able be a flexible and reliable teammate, both within the department and the company as a whole
  • A creative thinker and performance-driven individual, with ability to work in ambiguous and changing environments.
  • Present self in a professional manner and have the ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts.
  • Able to work extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and attend company events.
